The humans received the signal. They opened the dryer. Inside, they found a hidden compartment lined with silk, scented with bergamot, and filled with luxury socks in perfect condition. The dryer hadn’t destroyed them. It had curated them.
It was building a museum.
The humans were baffled. The socks were liberated. Bianca was hailed as a hero. Chad wrote a memoir titled “Dryer of My Tears.”
And the dryer? It was reprogrammed. But sometimes, late at night, it still hums. Longingly. Fashionably.
