Its Socks

Page 23

Sir Argyle the Bold feared civil war and called for tighter drawer regulations.

Miss Purl, ever the radical, declared, "Let the socks choose their own path, even if it leads to the laundry abyss."

The Elastic Elders whispered of a hidden faction; The Seamless, ancient socks who had transcended pairing and now lived in exile beneath the bed.

As predicted, soon, factions formed:

The Matchmakers, who believed pairing was sacred and socks must serve in symmetrical unity.

The Solos, who embraced the prophecy and sought freedom from the tyranny of twinning.

The Seamless, who returned from exile, bearing tales of the Socklight, a mythical detergent said to cleanse not just stains, but existential doubt.

As tensions frayed, Thistletoe vanished. Some say he was taken by the Sock Gobbler. Others believe he became the Chosen Sock, now wandering the ducts, gathering allies for the final tumble.
