“The Knights Of The Cryptid.” they said in unison before Dylan continued.
“Today Vlad and I are on the famous Ben Franklin road just a few miles from Nedflow, Pennsylvania a road which has been in use since before the first settlers arrived here, a trading route used by Native Americans for hundreds of generations. Founding Father Ben Franklin used this road when he first visited the near by town according to historians which was how it was given its name, however that’s not what makes this road so famous though. What makes this road famous, or infamous if you prefer, is not its deep history or its link to ancient Native American society but something much darker.
“A dark and evil legend known to the locals of Nedflow as ‘The Beast of Franklin Road’ or ‘The Beast’ as the old timers called it, said legend goes back to long before Colonial Army General Artemis Nedflow founded this town in 1803. The Native tribes in the area told tales of a half man, half dog creature that roamed the land after sunset, which they called the Maheegan which in English means werewolf.”
“That’s right, Dylan. I visited the Central Library in Philadelphia and found a
pamphlet from 1755 titled ‘Letters of Curiosity’ that told a story via a written letter from a sheep farmer living near Franklin road to a cousin in Philadelphia.
In the letter the farmer tells his cousin about how his sheep were brutally attacked one night just a few weeks earlier. Throughout the letter the farmer says over and over again it was the Maheegan that had done it.”
“The Maheegan?” Dylan said curiously with a furrowed brow he spent an hour practicing on in front of a mirror.
“Yes, but don’t get your hopes up. Back then people were a lot more superstitious and all kinds of animals were running around wild even in Philly, it wasn’t totally out of the question it could have been a mountain lion which were still in Pennsylvania until 1871.”
“So the beast might just be a cat?” Dylan asked giving the camera quick smug smile with a twinkle in his eye.
“Yes that might have been the case in 1755 but...” Vlad said drawing it out his statement just like Dylan showed him how.
“Come on dude, don’t leave me in suspense.”
“There were beast reports after 1871.” Vlad said nodding with self satisfaction another tip from Dylan.
