His tone was easy and friendly, his eyes surveyed the area around them as if he were a friend they were meeting up with. They were all college students living in Philly and were used to cops being gruff and standoffish and loud wearing the type of black gloves you’d think a serial killer might wear. This officer worn no gloves on a hand that was covered in freckles as was his face, his eyes were youthful and looked carefree.

“We’re filming a documentary, sir.” said Dylan in his most respectful sounding voice.

“A documentary?” the officer said with interest.

“Well it’s for YouTube.” Vlad said quickly as if lying about it being a documentary was a crime.

“...but a documentary all the same, officer Cord.” Dylan said reading the name tag pined to his shirt.

“Deputy,” he said but his tone was still easy.

“Yes, and we’re sorry for blocking the road, Deputy Cord.” Vlad said.

“Pussies.” Max said to himself.

Cord raised his eyebrows and turned back towards the road behind his car before looking back at them with a smile.

“Yeah, I guess you boys do got traffic back up quiet a ways don’t ya?” he said though he had a twinkle in his eye.

They all laughed at the officers joke even Max and they felt a little more at ease as the sun began to set.

“So a YouTube documentary, huh. You know I watched a YouTube doc on my phone with actual accredited scientists and geologists claiming the Earth was hollow and had underground cities built in them where the lizard people resided.

I don’t buy into that nonsense, I honestly thought it was some kind of parody or a comedy skit.” Cord said with a laugh and a head shake.

Dylan and Vlad laughed, Max nodded in agreement with the cop that there was some wild documentaries on YouTube.
