A study of the history, folklore, and occasionally even the mathematics underlying the Bible. In addition to discussion of historical figures in the Bible, it looks at the peoples who influenced Biblical history, such as the Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans. Special attention is given to the actual readings of the Bible text. Sections include "The History and Rulers of the Jews," "The Families of Israel," "Priests & Prophets," "The Oriental Empires," "The Glory That Was Greece," "The Grandeur That Was Rome," "The Maccabean and Herodian Families," "The First Christians," and "The HIstory of the Church," along with appendices on the language and textual criticism of the New Testament.
