Chapter Nine

The Nontrivial Kernel

My life looks complete from the outside. The degree is done. The milestones are checked. The future waits in quiet expectation. But inside me, something refuses to shift. Something has stayed. It is still. It is stubborn. It is sacred.

She.

She is the part of me that did not vanish when everything else did. The one memory that no silence could erase. The one presence that no distance could unseat. The one heartbeat that never lost its rhythm inside my chest.

Some love does not leave. It simply stays; anchored in the soul like a root buried too deep to be pulled out.

She is that for me. The kernel that remained when everything else was stripped away. The part of me that no transformation could nullify.

And now the world says I must move on. That I must forget. That I must love again. But how do I unlove someone I never unlived? How do I bury a heart that is still beating?

How do I walk forward when the road leads back to her?

So what do you do with a love that refuses to die?

I guess you keep it, right?

You let it ache.

You let it bloom in the quiet spaces where no one else can see.

You let it whisper back to you on lonely nights and empty mornings.

You let it be your proof that once; you loved without limit.

She is the nontrivial kernel of my existence. And I am the man still carrying it all.
