3. CULTIVATE YOUR PASSIONS
Think about what makes you feel excited in life. What makes you come alive? What activities and relationships bring you great joy?
Then realize that everything in your life right now, every one of the smallest relationships to the most important ones, present opportunities for expansion.
If you're in a hurry, does it seem excusable to cut someone off in traffic, to ignore the cashier who told you to have a nice day, to shrug off a compliment? We all do these things, but when we remain unaware of our behavior, it's as if we wander through life in someone else's screenplay.
We get into what I call a "zombie rut" of simply going through the motions, doing our job, taking care of errands, getting together with friends, moaning about relationships, complaining about the boss or the neighbors or the spouse and sympathizing with our friends' complaints about their lives.
What if you started today to shift that energy over into creating more of what you do want instead of additional things to complain about?
The choice is yours.
It requires a different sort of discipline than most of us learned in school. Growing up, discipline was often equated with punishment in most families and classrooms.
But true discipline means learning to control the pattern of your thoughts so that you spend more time thinking about being of service in your life and the lives of others, and less time allowing yourself to react mindlessly to what is on the news, what angry people are yelling about, and what latest disaster is being predicted. When you discover and cultivate your passion, you'll be in harmony with the creative force of the universe, and everything will begin to shift. Opportunities will arise, doors will open, and you'll feel happier and more contented. It's a great way to live.
