Many fateful meetings

I have noticed that the wives have called a meeting and have included both Mary and Joyce. It is the better part of valor to retreat. I do need to see what is brewing on the outskirts of my land. Boundaries need to be checked. I think that I will take George with me.

Those boys are on their own.

Atasha starts the meeting addressing why they need to talk. “Mary, Joyce, first thing is that you both will have an equal voice in this meeting since we will be talking about rising hormones. Our daughters and your sons. We will, for this meetings sake include those other four boys in our discussion.

Chris is now settled with a wife. Marsha will soon start her evaluations as first wife. We must try to stay out of her way even though we mothers may want to hint at the other wives. Just as we wives of Samuel would not tolerate some other woman telling us who to pick as a wife of Samuel, Marsha will not allow others to interfere.

First, Joyce, you have your husband. We have ours. We feel that it would harm the family dynamics if our marriage was open. It is not. You need to talk to George about yours but I will ask you not to include the daughters. There are settlements on our land that have many women that are single. You have proven that you can produce males. We seem to not be able so, if you want, you can select others from that group.

Now for the both of you. There will be no extra men in both of our marriages. Again, the strife will creep in.

Mary, do not think that we are leaving you out. You have no husband. We have seen that you are attracted to our Samuel. Are you willing to become his sixth wife?”

Mary is stunned at the proposal. “I have been a widow for many years. Raising a son to manhood but he is missing that element of a father figure. Samuel is filling it. He is a strong and handsome man. Again, I have not had physical relations in years and we left in such a hurry that I left my toys behind.”

Joyce laments that she did also.

Tasha, as well as the other wives, look puzzled. “You both mention toys with such regret on not bringing them. What are those toys that you regret leaving them?”

Both Mary and Joyce go into great detail about those toys. Describing what exactly each did. They held back nothing. The wives are salivating and squirming at each description and health benefit. Atasha, being almost equal to Samuel in magical powers ask both to picture them in their mind working.

Now there are two working versions of what they pictured. Each reached for the one they pictured. They turned them on and passed them around. Atasha had to call everyone back to this reality. “I will be making more of these after the meeting. These will be almost sacred treasures. Guard them well. Otherwise they will disappear.”

“Mary, we have talked before this meeting and I again must formally ask, would you like to be Samuel’s sixth wife? We will welcome you as a sister if you do. Know this, men, in this world cannot introduce new women into the wives circle. Only the wives. The men have almost no say in the matter.”

“I do want to have him as a husband but must decline. I do not like being almost forced on him. Without you informing him of your decision, may I ask him if he is willing? If he is then you can say that I am approved. If he does not ask you before he answers me, you may need to train him some more.”

Mary can tell that they know that he will ask them before answering.

The other women understand and form a plan of attack. Samuel is the target. They give permission for Mary to start getting close, in a way of dropping hints. Katrina adds that the wives need to start letting him over hear some private conversations on how Mary is all alone, poor Mary.

The meeting goes on to acknowledge that both Peter and Ken have had claims stakes sunk on them by Rose and Sally.

Atasha now tells them that they need to closely watch the last four. “Ginger, I need you to talk with Marsha on holding off on picking new wives for Chris. We need to see the dynamics with the last four boys. Once all six men have been captured, then they can start interviewing the remainder.”

Joyce has a concern and needs to voice them. “I see that you have some children that are younger than Marsha. Some don’t look like they are even teenagers. Surly you can’t let them get married.”

Tasha has three daughters. Faun 12, and the twins Janie 11 Jillie 11. They are the youngest children. “My daughters would feel left out if they were not married. They are not as trained but they are strong. I know what you are thinking. In this world, a female may marry as young as the age ten. Marriage under fourteen is forbidden to engage in sex. That is one of the things that will get the death penalty. Those wives under fourteen are considered wives in training. It also depends on the age of the male. Peter’s first wife would not allow an eleven year old into the marriage because he is nineteen. Chris, however, being sixteen will probably have several. “

Mary and Joyce see that there is a system. There are moral safeguards that prevent some older male from taking a ten year old as a wife. Ages in this world have limits. Both are satisfied.

Judith tells them that her daughter Sherry is twelve. If she set her eyes on Charles who is eighteen, she would need to wait until she was eighteen before marriage to him. Marsha is two years younger than Chris who is sixteen. That is perfect.

Plans have been set. The men really have had targets painted on their backs and the females are marksmen.

Joyce is now talking to the wives expressing the need to visit the neighboring village. Just to window shop for George. But first Atasha needs to make toys.
