PATRIDA: A NOVEL OF THE PANKRATION

Book Description HTML

Alexander the Great's Greece in all its glory, violence, passion and ambition. PATRIDA is the story of Dioxippus, a real historical figure, a fighter in the MMA (mixed martial arts) of the day, the pankration. As we journey with him through his youth, we see the evolution of hand to hand sport combat, juxstaposed against the emerging conqueror, Philip of Macedonia and his son and heir, Alexander. Political intrigue, sexual exploitation and manipulation with strong male and female characters whose ruthlessness is documented historical fact but here novelized to bring an excitement, an immediacy to the events of that critical time, makes this book read like a contemporary thriller backed by as much historical accuracy the story will allow. ENJOY.
