CHAPTER 32 - WINNING T HE UNWINNINGABLE

The air was thick with tension, a storm brewing on the horizon. The world seemed to hold its breath as Meera stood in the distance, watching the battlefield unfold before her. She had thought the worst was behind her, that the nightmare of her love story was over. But she had been wrong. This was the endgame.

Aarav stood at the centre of the chaos, his chest heaving, his fists clenched. The betrayal that had been planted deep in his soul had now grown into something monstrous. He had known he’d have to fight, but not like this. Not for his life. His body was battered and bruised from previous confrontations, the sweat dripping down his forehead, mixing with the dirt and blood that marred his face. He was no longer the man Meera had fallen in love with. He had become a shadow of his former self, broken, desperate, and ready to sacrifice everything for survival.

And then, there he was—the villain. Dante.

A man whose name was whispered in the darkest corners of their lives. The one who had masterminded the chaos, the pain, and the destruction. He had taken everything from them, toyed with their lives like pawns on a chessboard. Now, he stood in front of Aarav, his smile twisted in satisfaction. His eyes gleamed with the promise of death.

“You can’t win this, Aarav,” Dante sneered, his voice dripping with malice. “Not against me. Not after everything I’ve done to you. You’re nothing. You always were nothing.”

Aarav’s eyes burned with rage. He had heard those words too many times, seen the destruction Dante had caused firsthand. The pain that Meera had endured. The battles that had broken him. But he wasn’t going to let Dante win. Not like this. Not after everything they had fought for.

“I’m not the man you think I am anymore,” Aarav growled, his voice deep and full of fury. “And I won’t let you take another step toward her.”

With that, the ground beneath them seemed to shake as they charged at each other.

The first blow landed hard. A sickening crack echoed in the air as Aarav’s fist collided with Dante’s jaw. Dante staggered back, but there was no sign of fear in his eyes—only hunger. He wiped the blood from his lips and grinned.

“You really think you can beat me?” Dante laughed, his voice dark and mocking. “I made you who you are. You owe me everything. You wouldn’t even exist without me.”

Aarav’s heart thudded painfully in his chest, but he refused to listen. He was past being a pawn in Dante’s game. He had lost everything already—his love, his soul. But he would not lose Meera. Not to him.

The two men fought like animals, their movements fluid and deadly. Aarav was relentless, throwing punch after punch, each one aimed at ending this madness. But Dante was stronger. Dante’s fist caught Aarav across the face, sending him crashing into the ground. Blood dripped from Aarav’s nose, his vision blurry, but he pushed himself back up. There was no room for hesitation. He had to keep going.

But Dante was merciless. He kicked Aarav in the ribs, sending him sprawling again.

“You’re weak,” Dante taunted. “Always have been. You’ll never win. You don’t have the strength to defeat me.”

Aarav’s body screamed in pain, but he couldn’t give in.

Every part of him wanted to collapse. Wanted to let go. But he couldn’t. Not with Meera still out there, watching, waiting. The love of his life, the one he had torn apart, was still out there. And he would do anything to keep her safe.

With a guttural scream, Aarav lunged at Dante, grabbing him by the throat. For a moment, everything froze. The world was silent. Aarav’s fingers tightened around Dante’s neck, squeezing with all the strength he had left.

“This ends now,” Aarav whispered through gritted teeth.

But just as it seemed Aarav might win, Dante smiled again, a twisted grin stretching across his face. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a knife—a glinting silver blade, sharp and deadly.

With a sickening lunge, Dante plunged the knife deep into Aarav’s side. The blade cut through flesh, causing a surge of agony to flood through Aarav’s body.

Aarav gasped, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

He fell to his knees, the knife buried deep inside him. His world spun, his vision blurred, but through the haze, he saw Dante’s face—his eyes filled with triumph.

“You lost,” Dante hissed. “You were never good enough. Now, you die.”

But Aarav was not finished. Not yet. With the last bit of strength in him, he reached into his own pocket and pulled out a gun. The cold steel felt foreign in his hand, but there was no hesitation. No fear. Only the burning desire to finish what he had started.

In one swift movement, Aarav raised the gun and fired.

The bullet struck Dante square in the chest. The man staggered back, his body jerking as the life drained from his eyes.

“No one owns me anymore,” Aarav whispered.

But as Dante collapsed to the ground, Aarav's body gave out. His breath was shallow, his world dimming. Blood pooled around him, staining the earth beneath.

“I’m sorry, Meera,” Aarav whispered, the words barely a breath, as his world went black.

And then, there was silence.

Meera stood in the distance, her heart breaking as she watched the final moments unfold. The man she had once loved—truly loved—was gone. But the fight had been worth it. Aarav had saved her. He had given everything to protect her.

She ran to him, tears blurring her vision, her body trembling. She cradled him in her arms, feeling the weight of his lifeless body.

“You were my everything, Aarav,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “And I’ll never forget you.”

But it was too late. Aarav was gone, leaving behind nothing but memories, blood, and the echo of a love that had been destroyed by lies and betrayal.
