Slavers

The king wants to make the people start to doubt Draco’s ability to run the territory let alone the world. The best way is to make them insecure. Make them fear for their freedom. All he sees is slavers but this time he will make Everett Ratten look like a piker. None of those expendables. Goblins are not worth the effort and the lizard won’t miss them. No one does. No, he wants the human women captured. He does not care as to what they do with them. After all they are not elves. He gives the royal orders, hire some slavers.

Raval just shakes his head. He is sitting in his home and one of the couriers have just brought him what the king of Elvaden is starting. Slavers. Doesn’t he know that the dragon race has almost an innate sense of when slavers enter their areas.

Since the dragon rule has been reestablished, slave trade has almost vanished. In the few areas that it still flourishes it is an underground backwater profession. It is known that only the brave or stupid go into that trade.

The brush man shows up at the gate and hands the guard the letter pouch. Per orders, neither say a word but the guard hands him a note. The note informs him that a goblin will follow him for a little bit only to see if someone follows him.

The brush man nods then touches the note to the flame of the candle burning. When the note is almost consumed, he drops it on the ground and leaves. The guard understands why and makes sure that it is ash then stomps the ash, just to make sure that no one can use them to reconstruct the note.

King Draco looks at the Informer’s latest and really shakes his head. The whole idea of elf superiority is now totally in doubt. Why haven’t his people thrown a rope around him and dragged him off to a clear area where he can just run to the end of the rope and bark.

Now there is some hope for this world. At his gate are the hired “slavers.” They are requesting an audience with king Draco.

“We have been paid handsomely well for the purpose of stirring up the people against you by abducting women as slaves. We give that money to you for whatever you wish. We ask you if you know how we can make it look like we tried but failed.”

Draco gets an evil smile then tells them of what he has instore for them.

There are a certain group of women in this world that know how to take care of themselves. They now have been holding classes on self defense throughout the world. Here in Draco’s realm, he does have the Clan of Martin.

For years, they have been running training that is used as the example for other dragon realms around the world. They have year round classes for both the men and women. Now the majority of the women in his realm can defend themselves against most.

Soon word is reaching the king of Elvaden that his slavers are being defeated and locked up in the palace dungeon. This does not figure out. Human females are supposed to be helpless. Only good for cooking, crops and squeezing out their pups. Not for fighting. Total incompetence on the part of the hired slavers.

This whole approach needs to be rethought. He knows that he needs to dumb down the plan so those monkeys can understand it. He does remind himself that Everett Ratten was an orc.

He hires a few orcs to do the job that the monkeys could not do.

Draco now has gotten an update from the Informer about the change to orcs. This time there will be no orc showing up at his door so he has sent out the word through the towers that orc slavers are condemned to the fall.

It is no surprise that they are spotted entering the territory. None of them were able to fly.

Raval is very upset that the pride of an elf has brought such shame on the whole race. This is why so many of the younger elves have been escaping Elvaden.
