Carmine the invincible

The next day, we come to the spot that the conflict with that gang is starting. There is a noble, fighting from the back. Protecting the avenue of retreat if necessary. They had an overly dressed elf that you could instantly tell that he is one of the elves that know they are superior to everyone else. None of either side are really skilled.

It is like watching two old men getting angry. One takes off his shirt. You could tell that it once was a signature move but now he cannot tear it off so he just takes it off. Both old men would now ball up their fists and swing wildly at each other but while they are still out of reach.

Most of the young will step in and separate the two. Even though there were no punches that hit, both men are content that they won.

This is what this fight is but they are young.

Now the regally dressed elf steps up, starts a chant and is moving his hands in a mystical manner.

FIRE BALL the elf yells and releases a large intense all consuming ball of fire. Then the man sits down declaring that it was up to those who hired him to finish the cleanup. He sits and watches the others fight.

“They should be more reverent towards their savior. I did the hard part,”

Carmine is so full of himself. Why shouldn’t he be. He is the apex of evolution. He is a high elf. Royalty, almost. All need to bow as he passes.

I am laughing as I hear, “Last wizard found.” My three are looking at me. It’s Sara that just shakes her head and says, “No, it can’t be him, the last wizard? He’s a joke, a moron, an arrogant imbecile.”

I just shrug and nod. I continued to watch the so called battle.

When I saw his method and ego, I did not believe it but what is heard does not compare with what I see. I am surprised that he is not wearing lead shoes. He is so self inflated that, without them, I swear that he would just float away.

I’m going to enjoy this.

I can now read him. Even Garth can see his flaw and offers to go against him but this time I intend to take him on myself. I tell Garth that what would it mean to have been beaten by someone as strong as he is.

“Don’t worry, physically I am the weakest here. How would you feel if I was able to beat you. You, I can’t without using pee but him. I have a plan. All I need is to get him mad and watch his hands.”

With Garth and the others looking on, I pour water on the ground and make tightly packed mud balls. With my pouch full of these mud balls. I throw one and hit him in the back of the head. He turns with a start, reaches with his hand and comes back with mud on that hand.

I did not wait, I had a direct hit to his forehead. It is plain to see that he is now very angry at the disrespect I am showing him. My last nonverbal taunt is when I grab my balls, yank a few times and point at him.

Here it comes.

He is now angry and he starts his chant. His hands are moving and I start to shift as to run right. The hands follow me.

When he is finished with the chant, ten seconds have passed. He launches the fire ball in the direction I was starting but as he let loose, I did a one eighty and he missed me entirely. With that I unleashed a barrage of mud balls until he is a curled up ball of mud.

I walk up to him and just say to him, “You defeated yourself. One big blast. Your ego is what your weakness is. Come with us and I will show you what it means to physically match that ego.

Carmine looks at me. Sees my bottles of liquid. He grabs one telling me that he needed it to wash the mud off. He pulled the cork and pours some out. The bottle breaks and now we have a battlefield littered with people that are passed out.

I hear the big man laughing loudly as are the other two. I look at them and ask if I beat him?

Grabbing him by his tunic, I drag the elf away from the others. My three know the drill. This time, they left the dead alone, other than to search pockets and packs, but the ones in lullaby land were stripped clean, including the noble.

To the victor goes the spoils.

Garth picks our sleeping wizard, slings him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. We walk for a little while and find a stream. “He stinks of pee!!” With that, Garth throws him in the water. Looks at us and calmly says, “Well he wanted to wash off the mud.”

Just the way he looked as he said that caused us all to laugh. Garth did drag him to where his head was on the bank. “We still need him.” We all sat until the effects wore off and a certain, no longer smug, elf started to wake.

He sees that he is no longer on the battlefield.

“What the hell did you do to me and why am I almost drowned in this water?” The man sneezes. He struggles to get up and walks to us.

I hold out another bottle. The three cringe and shun the bottle. Carmine is looking at them and the bottle. With a puzzled look he asks about it. I tell him that it is my piss. He runs back into the water and frantically tries to scrub himself to death.

“Why would you carry something that pathetic on your person?”

Garth tells him “His pee is what knocked you and all that were alive on that field out cold. His pee has that power.”

The elf has never heard anything more ridiculous. I walk over to him and hand him a bottle “Sit and pull the cork. By the way. Sit on the bank.”

I now very slowly walk away and to him I disappear then reappear besides my comrades. He looks at me and then to the others. We are just grinning. He sets down the bottle but looked like he wanted to throw it at us.

“Wise choice,” Sara remarks. “It would be a lousy skill if the man who’s urine can knock people out if he too was subject to his own urine’s effect.” Jim walks over and retrieves the bottle. Looks the elf in the eye.

“Another of Chris’s power is stealth. When he walks slowly, no one can see him.”

Now I ask. “Do you want to feel what another of my powers is?” I reach into the stream and pull out a small pebble. “Can you make a fire ball this size?”

“Why should I? That size won’t do anything. Only a big one will do.”

Garth asks, even though we all know the answer. “How many of those can you do at one time?”

“One but that is all that is needed. “ He still is arrogant.

After reminding him that all I needed was to side step his mighty fire ball and again ask, “Can you make one this size?”

He says yes. So I tell him to fire as many as he can at the large tree on the other side of the path. Carmine shrugs and does just that. I concentrate and as he fires, we see him shiver and now he is firing those small balls but like I knew a machine gun would fire.

In a matter of thirty seconds he had cut the tree down so I stopped. His fire balls ceased. You could see him looking at the tree as he just asked, then back to us. “What was that?”

Sara asks him, “Intoxicating isn’t it? Chris can boost your powers but only as long as he feels it Is necessary. He can now boost the three of us but I would imagine that soon he will be able to do the four of us at one time.”

Garth tells me to boost him. “I’ll break up that tree for firewood. We should camp here for the night. It appears that our elf is broken. Besides, it has been almost a week since you drank. We have a stream and you are running low on full bottles.”

I thank him for looking after me. I go to the stream and proceed to drink. Carmine is watching me and can see that I truly am drinking but it is now almost ten minutes of drinking when he hears from the group.

“That’s his fourth power. It is called camel. He now will be able to go a few weeks without needing any water but when he has to pee, stay as far away from him as possible.”

They all laugh and settle in for the night.

The next morning, Carmine is still here. We tell him of a matter we need to take care of in the village. We break camp and walk the few days to that village. During that time, we work with his tolerance to boost, like we did with Sara. He now sees what she meant with her question. It really is intoxicating. He now assumes that they protect him because of the feeling of the boost.

At the village, we take the bag to the chief. He is really happy to see us but ecstatic to see the bag. Carmine has to go outside at the sight of twelve heads bouncing on the desk and some rolling off onto the floor.

We walk over to the bank and each of our accounts get immensely fatter. Carmine is looking bewildered. I get him an account and give him ten gold. Then I tell him that as long as he shoots those rapid little fire balls, he will share equally, “But if you use that one big fire ball, you lose your share. Plus ten gold.”

There is practice that we need to do but also we are in demand for capturing other gangs. All of us need to get used to working as a team. After all, I feel that it is the only way we will defeat the evil one.

Although I feel that Sara sees Carmine as at least one of the evil ones minions.

As a side note, we let the chief keep the bag with the heads. How do you clean it?

We finally are almost ready to seek out the evil one. After finding there three wizards, I now see a clear path of destruction that the evil one has left in his wake. Even innocent bystanders tremble at the mention of his name, Gregor.
