Note that Jesus walked in Israel, and here are some country maps that systematically zoom in closer to Israel from afar so that you can see a big picture from the outside before looking at Israel itself.

Here is a country map that is much closer to Israel, and it shows the important places where Jesus was born and walked.

When we just look at the little piece in between Mark 7-11 we already see how much Jesus moved, and that He never stood still. He was always travelling, somewhere busy with God's work: 1. Mark 7

→ Decapolis (Woman with Possessed Daughter)

2. Mark 8

→ Bethsaida (2nd Multiplication of the loaves)

3. Mark 10

→ Jericho (Question from 2 sons of Zebedee)

4. Mark 11

→ Jesus in Jerusalem, in the city

Notice with this country map that the most important point on the whole earth is the Mount of Olives - the OLIVE MOUNTAIN!!! The place where Jesus will set up His new kingdom one day and rule from the whole world!

MORE INFORMATION - IT'S THE NEW “JERUSALEM” - NOT THE NEW “TEMPLE”.

NORTH

Western Wall → All that remains of the original Jewish temple of God.

Where Jesus ascended and will one day descend again.  Mount of Olives Mount Moriah – Temple Mount → Where God's Jewish temple SHOULD stand. Muslims currently built their Dome temple here to worship Allah (their god) and Muhammad (their messenger).

Where Jesus (at the foot of the Mount of Olives) prayed & sweat blood.  Garden of Gethsemane Muslim Dome on the Rock → The Jews want to attack the Muslims and tear down this temple so that they can rebuild their own Jewish temple of God. It's the very last prediction in the Bible before the end of the whole world. This is why there is conflict in Israel.

Jesus greeted His disciples on the Mount of Olives and ascended to heaven Acts 1:11. Jesus returns again to the exact place where He ascended Zechariah 14:4. According to Zechariah 4, when Jesus descends on the Mount of Olives, He will split the mountain in two and the two halves will flee to the North and South, so that there can be a valley right in the middle of the Mount of Olives. That split is right on the middle Eastern side of Mount Moriah, where the last temple will be built before Jesus' coming - where the devil will promise false peace. It is also on Mount Moriah where the Muslims have currently built their “Dome on the Rock” temple in which they worship their god, and it is precisely for this reason that there is such a terrible conflict in Israel, between the Jews and the Muslims, because the Jews own Israel, but the Muslims have taken it over and are now using our God's holy Mountain for their idol worship. The Jews may not even be caught praying on the mountain and may only pray at the Western wall on the outside.

The Temple Mount (Mount Moriah) is currently the holiest place on earth. There will not be a temple in the new Jerusalem, according to Revelation 21:22. When Jesus descends on the Mount of Olives and divides it into two parts, He will bring the new Jerusalem with Him. For more information on Moria, refer to the Revelation Series, Part 3, page 44-49. The Lord is going to let the river of eternal life flow right through the valley in the Mount of Olives Zechariah 14:8 in Israel, and it will freely give life to all Jerusalem and Israel - to God's children, forever. The new Jerusalem will not have a temple!!!

Take away: The 3rd temple is built with human hands, on Moriah. Jesus descends on the Mount of Olives one day. There is NOT going to be a temple in the New Jerusalem, because God is the temple.

LISTENING LESSON & CONVERSATION ON MARK 11

After each lesson from Mark, we need to listen to his friends' point of view to see the full picture. For example, where Mark may tell a short story about Jesus' baptism, you can hear much more detail in Matthew and Mark, because John does not talk about this at all. Then also there are stories that John tells which Mark does not tell at all, and we also need to listen to them to be able to bridge from one lesson to another in Mark. PRACTICAL LESSON TO MARK 11

PRAY

We must learn to pray... Learn to REALLY pray. How can we believe in God, and work for Him, and save souls, if we cannot converse with God? How can evil spirits stay away from us if we do not talk to God Mark 9:29? How can we overcome the darkness without calling God for help? God tells us over and over in the Word to pray often. To always pray, even if we don't think it's working. The Jews fast regularly. And not just for one day, but rather for weeks and sometimes months at a time. They pray day and night. On their knees for hours, day after day while fasting. Or they stand at the west wall and pray. For many nights David lay alone in the grass tending sheep, and admiring the stars, and prayed and prayed. Who are we as Christians to think we can just rattle off a quick morning prayer and think it's a conversation with God? Or think it solves all our problems? How can we blame God if He doesn't answer our prayers, when we just send up a quick 30-second prayer? This does not please God. Look, there's nothing wrong with saying a short prayer when needed, but we SERIOUSLY need to learn to talk to God properly too. We must ALWAYS

PRAY, so we must actually pray 1000 little prayers all day, every day FOR EVERYTHING we do! We can whisper, all day, every day. And then we must learn to pray as Jesus prays, in Mark 14:34-41.

In this practical lesson we are going to hold a prayer hour, just like Jesus, because this is how you make war with the darkness! Get ready for war!

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Anoint YOURSELF with olive oil or salve oil and wash your face.

2. Write a list of topics you want to pray about, if you don't think you'll be able to make it an hour.

3. Plan to pray and plead with God for 5 minutes about each topic, then your list can have 12 things on it. Or if you want to talk for 2 minutes on each topic, then your list can have 30 things on it. Your choice.

4. If you want, you can look up Bible verses ahead of time and write them down so that you can speak the word about all your subjects that you are praying for.

5. Choose a room where you can close your door and pray PRIVATELY.

6. Put a pillow on the ground for your knees, and dress comfortably, preferably night clothes.

7. Put on some Bible music or calm classical music.

8. Set your watch to time you at exactly 1 hour, so you can see if you can get it right.

9. If you really want to go all out and experience the prayer of the Bible days, you can research it ahead of time and try out your favorite way of prayer. Some people stood and prayed with a cloth hanging on their heads, others stood by windows and looked up and prayed. People of little faith also prayed in front of an incense bowl. Others pray on their knees. You can pray outside at night on a blanket while looking at the stars. If you really want to go all out and try an angry prayer way, you can put a bag on the ground, and put on dirty clothes, and throw fire ash or sand on the bag and sit in it and pray.

10. Make sure there are NO DISTRACTIONS, and rather go OVER an hour, than under!

11. Cry if you want, beg, stand up and dance before God, kneel, be quiet, do EVERYTHING FOR GOD!

12. Remember the blood of Jesus, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the Names of the triune God!

13. Enjoy it!

MARK 12 – MORE PARABLES, STRAYING, TAXATION, TITHES, AND LOVE

Why is Jesus the Cornerstone? Should we pay taxes? Will we recall each other in heaven? Are we still going to be married in heaven if we were on earth? Do Christians ever die? What is the greatest commandment?

Should we love ourselves? Should we sit in front at church? Can God judge one guy more harshly than another? How much tithing is enough?

Read Mark 12.

In chapter 12 we learn a lot! We see how Jesus talks to the Pharisees and disciples and teaches them and finds out the difference between those who know the word, and those who do it! Let's get started!

Parable 22 - The farmers (v1-12): Also, in Matthew 21:33-46 & Luke 20:9-19 & Isaiah 5:1-7 WOW.

o The land owner is __________, the vineyard (land) is __________, the rogue land-tenants are the __________ __________ (who like to kill people and the word, let them do no works and bear fruit Jeremiah 26:7-11, 38:1-28,Matthew 14:1-12, & 2 Chronicles 24:21), the land owner's servants are _________________ who is sent to preach God's Word to Israel, the land owner's son is ________, and the other new tenants are the forgiven __________ (the gentiles who get Christianity).

o Jesus foretold their actions Psalm 118:22, & Isaiah 28:16, because John 10:18.

The question about the tax (v13-17):

o Yep, it's a national law v17 & Romans 13. But beware those who over-charge on taxes, or charge interest Proverbs 28:8-10, Psalm 15:5, & Leviticus 25:35-37.

The Sadducees & the resurrection (v18-27): They go astray because v24. See also John 8:51-55 (His word)!

o You can marry your brother's wife, after her _________ v19. We're not going to be __________ in heaven v25. We are ____________________ in heaven after death, so no resurrection from death is needed for __________, only for sinners. They are awakened to stand before the _______ 26-27.

The great commandment (v28-34):

o God __________, and your loved ones – LIKE – YOUR – __________! In v32 the scribe wanted to be the __________, but in v34 Jesus says who the ______ really is. Read slowly! Teacher vs. Principal!

o Our loved ones are the ones we hold ____________________ against Leviticus 19:18!

o The love for yourself: Ephesians 5:29, Proverbs 19:8, & Leviticus 19:33-34. BUT: 2 Timothy 3:1-8, Proverbs 18:12, 21:4, & Galatians 6:3-5. Love (not in love) with yourself.

The Christ, Son of David (v35-37):

o Psalm 110:1 Jesus is the Son of David, but even David calls Him Lord! “The Lord (__________) said to my Lord the king (__________) …” → Even David knows his God!

Warning against the scribes (v38-40):

o You are no better than others! Romans 12:16, Philippians 2:3, & Luke 18:9-14.

The alms of the poor widow (v41-44):

o You will reap what you sow! Matthew 6:4, Malachi 3:10, 2 Corinthians 9:7, & Luke 6:38.

HOMEWORK – TO READ

Did you know:

o Xenophobia (hating or fearing anything or anyone foreign or foreign) is sin. → Leviticus 19:33-34

o God said we should love our enemies Matthew 5:44!

o As Jesus answers the Sadducees' question about the resurrection, we can once again see the description of Revelation, and the “Pre-Tribulation Rapture”. The Christians are immediately in heaven, while the evil one waits for the judgment.

o There is prophecy again, in Jeremiah 26:7-11. Jesus knows the word well!

o In the parable of the farmers, they silenced the word of God (and therefore God's warning). God is looking for fruit. He comes to see, whether you like it or not.

About the parables:

o Further information on Parable 22 of the Mark 12 lesson, from the farmers:

- It was a custom in ancient Israel for landowners (farmers) to rent out their land, and then they could claim up to 50% of the land's yield from the tenants as payment for using the land.

- The landowner sent servants to collect His portion of the fruit, and the cunning Pharisees (like bushes that snared the fruit) killed or wounded everyone and sent them away empty-handed. Then the landowner (God) sent His own Son to check, and they crucified him!

WOW!!! Now God is going to come back and destroy all the wicked of the earth with the very cornerstone (Chief Cornerstone Jesus Christ) that they all threw away. And then right and justice will reign forever, as we could see in Mark 1. In other words, Jesus is going to be the new (and last) eternal king who is going to rule with justice, and He is going to appoint us as princes and princesses to rule the heavenly kingdom with Him, as we learn over and over here and in the Revelation series.

- The incredible thing is that the tenants thought that if they killed the boy, they would be able to inherit the land. But little-knowing they killed a clean, spotless Son of God and it was then used as a final sin offering on the altar before God (because you MUST shed blood for the forgiveness of sin), and Jesus done for us one last time, when the Pharisees set up the Romans to crucify Jesus. EVERYTHING the devil does is used by God for something good in the end Genesis 50:20.

- When Jesus asked the question in Mark 12:9, he actually allowed the Pharisees to pronounce their own “death sentence”. The Pharisees thought they were automatically approved for heaven because they were born of Abraham, and that's why history and bloodlines were so important to them, but then God showed them that the kingdom of God is only meant for those who Bear the Holy Spirit (the word of God) like a vine! The whole farm's grapes come from ONE big root! WOW! Then the water enters the root and moves from the first grapes all the way to the last. Likewise, God expects us to be. We must hear the word from one guy, and then pass it on to another guy, and make a great unbreakable chain! What are you going to do?

- As we learned in Mark 1, Jesus is the roof AND foundation of the church, the great rock.

108

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

o Parables that happen between Mark 12 & 13 in the other gospels:

- Parable 23 – The wedding (Matthew 22:1-14):

▪ The simile is almost the same as the one in Luke 14:15-24.

▪ Again, Jesus tells us that the parables bring the kingdom closer to us, and it will answer our prayers, as we learn in Matthew 6:33.

▪ In the parable of the wedding, the king is also God. The slaves are the Christians. The invited are the people who talk a lot but do little. It's all the people bragging because they are always in church, but never once can give money to a poor person.

▪ When the invited did not come to do actions for God's church, all the sinners and ordinary gentiles are called to action!

▪ Look how beautifully Jesus speaks Matthew 22:12 when you still have a chance at the judgment day to give an account. But what are you going to be able to say? We know from the Revelation series which clothes are the wedding clothes and why it is important here! The man tried to get to heaven without the blood of Jesus that washes away your sins and leaves your skin white. In Matthew 22:13 we find out that hell is not what people think it is. It's not a place where you can commit all the sins under the sun. It's a place where you WILL BE BOUND, and in fire and brimstone burn forever, where worm does not die and where you will never consume, and where there is much weeping and gnashing of teeth, in thick smoke and deep dark darkness, for EVERYONE in hell, including the demons, and including the devil. The devil is not the king of the abyss! He will ALSO be bound in chains, as we learn in the Revelation series.

▪ Notice what happens to the king's slaves Matthew 22:6, and how God handled the matter in Matthew 22:7. We are NOT promised a nice life on earth AT ALL, so who are we to think so? The price is in heaven! NOT HERE! God will stand up for us at the right time Romans 12:19. God is patient, but there comes a day Obadiah 1:15 & Hebrews 10:29-31!

▪ In the very end we find out again, in Matthew 22:14 that GOOD DEEDS are important: Matthew 7:21. What actions are you going to start doing???

▪ For more color in the picture, you can also read Acts 13.

Being a fisherman for Jesus means:

o Put AAS OUT! Don't force people. Don't even talk to them directly unless absolutely necessary. Just be around them an amazing example like Jesus, let your ACTIONS call them to the kingdom (the AAS). Let them come and ask YOU how to be like you (the fish comes sniffing). Then you can show them how to be like JESUS (pull a giant hook in their mouth), and how to go to heaven with you one day (in reel)! Jesus did not beg anyone to follow him and listen to him. He showed everyone the practical example of Christian faith every day, and all those multitudes followed Him themselves.

And don't try to change people or “convict” of their sins... That's the Holy Spirit's work. Your job is just to make them eager and curious about God's word. To invite them to church. Some people try to clean the fish's scales before they ever catch the fish... It will never work. Catch the fish FIRST.

Lure them to church. GOD will take care of the rest. Be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves -

Matthew 10:16.

PRACTICAL LESSON TO MARK 12

PAY A TITHE TO GOD

The tithe (alms) is not just about God WILL bless you. Nor is it about some churches who may be using the money on the wrong things. It's not even about the poor people who need it. It's about the fact that God wants us to make sacrifices! Give God the first of your income, and He will bless what you have left to overflow! The tithe is an option. Only in the old testament was it Jewish law to pay tithes Leviticus 27:30.

But if you want to be a Christian, you're also going to have to learn to pay offerings, because even though it's not a law for Christians today, and even though it doesn't matter how much you give, it's still very important to God that you choose from your heart to do so: 1 John 3:17, Deuteronomy 15:11, Proverbs 14:21 & 31, 19:17, 21:13, 22:9, 28:27, Acts 20:35, Matthew 5:42, James 1:27, Luke 12:33-34, 3:11, Matthew 19:21, & Romans 15:1.

God does not ask you for alms because He is looking for your money. He asks for it to see if you can obey from your own heart. And to give you opportunity to support the poor. Why? Because we were made to need each other, and you're never going to be successful until you learn that. The tithes are paid so that there can be FOOD in the church Malachi 3:10. THAT'S THE GOAL! FOOD IN THE CHURCH!

The Old Testament tithe means: 10% of EVERYTHING you earned monthly Deuteronomy 14:22. Jesus took away the ordinances, and the tithe is now optional. BUT it's absolutely important if you want to keep your faith alive and want to be blessed. Do not rob God. And it is more important to give your alms with a happy heart, than to give the full tithe with a sad heart 2 Corinthians 9:7. If the church abuses your money, they will be punished Malachi 3:8-9 and you will be blessed for the intent in your heart Acts 20:35. Stop stressing, and just do the right thing.

In this practical lesson we are going to pay a tithe to God!

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Anoint YOURSELF with olive oil or salve oil and wash your face.

2. The full tithe works like this: You take your salary AFTER taxes and divide it by 10. This is the amount that belongs to God. Not 10% of everything you own, but a tenth of everything you made in that month. If you INCLUDE tax then you don't have to pay tithe on your TAX-RETURN, because then you already have. Also remember that married couples give tithes TOGETHER AS ONE.

3. Decide how much you will give to God:

- Are you going to try to give a full Old Testament tithe once, or maybe half a tithe, or maybe even give like R20-R500? Whatever you can do with a HAPPY HEART! Try just once to give a proper amount, to learn the full value of God in you.

4. Decide who you are going to give it to:

- It makes the most sense to sow the tithe in the direction (church) where you receive your spiritual nourishment. A church that uses the money to give food to the poor.

5. Then go and give it in secret, with humility, and tell no soul what you have done!

6. Enjoy, and remember the love in 1 John 4:8 & 1 Corinthians 13!

MARK 13 – MORE PARABLES AND THE REVELATION

How bad will the end of the world be? Will there be signs of the end before it happens? What should we do about it? Is time going to fly fast?

How can we recognize a false christ? Who knows the date of the end of the world? How much should we pray? Does the word we may never ever sleep say?

Read Mark 13.

In chapter 13 we see a clear warning of the end time and the rapture! We learn how to recognize the false christs and find out what to do about them. We also learn the last 2 parables of the 25 we are looking at in this series. Let's learn the summary of Revelation.

The prophetic reason, the beginning of the sorrows (v1-13): o The impossible pyramids and buildings in v1? The blocks weigh ______ metric ton (the average car).

Could the strong ______ or ______ or friendly ________ that weighed 100 metric tons each (as pack animals) from the old days not lift that, even in groups maybe? And the scientists spin in circles! Isaiah 30:6, Job 41:10-12, 16, & 18, Job 40:10-19, Philippians 4:13, Genesis 32:22-32, & 6:4.

o ALL who say, “I am Jesus!” is _________ v6, because v26, Revelation 1:7, & 1 Thessalonians 4:16.

o The sign of the pastors who are on TV ____________________ in Matthew 24:14.

The prophetic reason (continued), the great tribulation (v14-23): o When someone stands in the temple in Israel and promises peace, v14 then study the ___________

Revelation 6:2 and do what v14-16 says!

o If people do miracles and signs other than healing and deliverance, they are __________ v22.

o Daniel warned us in Daniel 9:25-27, 11:31, 12:11 as we also learn in the Revelation series.

o Babies and children will _______, tribulation will be worse than anything that has ever happened, and the days will be ______ so that the elect can ______. Check out the Revelation series for more.

The prophetic speech (continued), second coming of the Son of Man (v24-32): o The true Christ v26-27 & Revelation 19:11-16.

o All will __________ Him at the same time Matthew 24:27.

o How can v30, Matthew 24:34 & Luke 21:32 be true? Because sometimes you have to read the whole story for context: Matthew 16:28, Mark 9:1, & Luke 9:27.

o More evidence that our PURPOSE is to ALL be able to __________ v32 & Acts 1:7-8.

The prophetic reason (conclusion), the vigilance (v33-37): o “Watch” means to be “on-watch”, careful and sober, ready for something __________ it happens.

Mark 14:34, & 37-38. In the spiritual world it means to ALWAYS __________, while the darkness is still with us 1 Peter 5:8 & Colossians 1:13-14. God tested the disciples to see if their flesh or spirit ruled, in Mark 14. We must stop carelessly walking and taking actions without thinking about whether it is a sin or not, because Romans 14:12, 1 Peter 4:5, & Matthew 12:36.

o “Watching” does NOT mean never sleeping. We know that God wants us to physically __________

and __________, in: Proverbs 3:24, Psalm 127:2, Job 4:13-16, Genesis 46:2, & Daniel 2:19, etc.

▪ Everyone is invited to the wedding, but not everyone is interested enough to TAKE

ACTION and fill their lamps with oil, or take extra oil with them Isaiah 61:1 & Acts 10:38. Or in other words, to strengthen your faith that your lamp is always burning Matthew 5:15 while you wait for Jesus Isaiah 40:31. So the Holy Spirit is not with them through the teaching of the word. Then Jesus comes while you are not yet ready, and then He is going to show you the way. We must LEARN the Bible 2

Timothy 2:15!

▪ Jesus will only appear to those who eagerly seek Him Hebrews 9:28.

o Parable 25 – The talents (Matthew 25:14-30):

▪ We have already learned almost the same parable in Mark 10. It goes without saying. Jesus gives us the word, and He gives us the command to save souls (to double the talents) Mark 16:15. Some people have the money and ability to travel far and save many souls, while others may have the ability to save fewer souls. It does not matter. As long as you GO to SAVE the souls that God has given you the ability to do, we will be able to enter the kingdom one day and be appointed over many things in heaven.

▪ But here goes the guy of whom the least was expected (he had to GO AND SAVE

JUST ONE SOUL), but he couldn't take action. He had to go and save a soul, but even if he didn't want to do that, he could take the talent and give it to changers (offering his help to other Christians who are going to save souls), but even that he didn't do, and then Jesus called him lazy Matthew 25:26! He put his lamp under a bucket.

▪ Then Jesus took the man's own salvation and his one single talent away from him and gave it to the one with the many talents. Why? Because Matthew 7:21.

▪ The man with the one talent also told his master that he was a hard man, and reaped where He did not sow... It's true! God is hard Proverbs 3:11-12 & Deuteronomy 8:5, and God reaps where He has not sown, because everything belongs to Him anyway, and it is our job to sow the word for Him Psalm 24:1, Mark 16:15, & Revelation 14:19.

More information about the vigilance and tribulation and an interesting fact: o EVIDENCE THAT WE WILL BE GONE DURING THE TRIBULATION: Luke 21:36.

o We must pray for the same things over and over again! Mark 14:39.

o The moment you feel like sinning, run to your room, AND WATCH AND PRAY Matthew 26:41, Luke 18:1, Ephesians 6:18, & 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

o ALL Christians are going to have a hard life: 2 Timothy 3:12, Matthew 24:9, & 1 Peter 4:12.

o The Argentinosaurus was an herbivore (eating only plants) and weighed 100 metric tons!

Amazing stuff:

o In Genesis 32, Jacob tackled God, (yes, I had to read it twice too) and wrestled with Him... First of all, WOW! Second... Why was Jacob blessed afterwards? Because!

o He sought alone time with God.

o He was 100% broken before God.

o He hungered for God.

o He didn't give up. (That's a whole other level of perseverance!) o He was HONEST!

▪ In Genesis 27:19 (20 years earlier) he lied to his father and said he was Esau...

▪ Here in Genesis 32:27 (20 years later) he was 110% honest about who he was... Who he really was, deep down... A sinner!

o Suddenly makes me want to dance around my kickboxing bag!

o In Job 40-41 God talks to Job about a hippo (Behemoth)'s cross. It's his hips!

o The whole Mark 13 is about the future.

o This chapter, as well as the 70x7 prophecy, is discussed in detail in the Revelation Series.

o In Revelation 1:7 where God says that EVERY eye will see him... It refers to EVERY eye... The dead too. ALL will see God when he enters Revelation 19 come back for the final victory!

o The fact that the whole world is being preached on TV, radio and the internet today is a sign -

Matthew 24:14 & 24!

LISTENING LESSON & CONVERSATION ON MARK 13

After each lesson from Mark, we need to listen to his friends' point of view to see the full picture. For example, where Mark may tell a short story about Jesus' baptism, you can hear much more detail in Matthew and Mark, because John does not talk about this at all. Then also there are stories that John tells which Mark does not tell at all, and we also need to listen to them to be able to bridge from one lesson to another in Mark. This table lists all the chapters that correspond to Mark (these are cross-references), and all the chapters which Mark does not have at all, but which the other gospels do tell (these are bridge chapters). Listen to the sections that are marked. REMEMBER: Listen and read together in your Bible, then we discuss how we each feel about it.

MARK 14 – THE EASTER, THE SUPPER, AND THE ACCUSATION AGAINST JESUS

What is the Passover, unleavened bread, the Lord's Supper, spikenard ointment, and an alabaster jar? Did Judas Iscariot receive a bribe? Does the upper room still exist? Did Judas go to hell after his death? Did Peter betray Jesus? Does Jesus know everything? Where was the garden of Gethsemane? What was Jesus' last miracle? Did Jesus fight for His life?

REMEMBER: Pop quiz 1 is coming up on this lesson, on page 129.

Read Mark 14.

In chapter 14 we again have story time as with Jesus' birth. Let's find out what happened!

The chief priests take counsel (v1-2):

The last Passover, the holy communion (v12-26):

o Also in Matthew 26:17-30, Luke 22:7-23 & John 13:21-30.

o The Passover is a festival in Exodus 12 which the Jews celebrate to remember the last plague on Egypt, when the firstborn of the Egyptians died, but all the Israelites who had the lamb's blood on their doors were __________. It is a roasted lamb, which is eaten with unleavened flat breads (without yeast) every year, and the festival usually lasts 7-8 days (more in Mark 15).

o Jesus was the LAST Hebrews 9:25-28, final Lamb of the __________. He stopped the old covenant

Mark 14 & Hebrews 8:8-13, and started the new covenant, the __________ in 1 Corinthians 5:7!

o The Lord's Supper means to often think of Jesus' ______ and __________ 1 Corinthians 11:23-25.

o Paul gave IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 about communion’s seriousness.

o The Bread was __________ just like Jesus' body, in Psalm 22:12-15 & 16-17 & Isaiah 53:4-7.

o The Wine is Jesus’ ________, poured out for our sins, in Revelation 7:14, and then v26 happened.

o We have already learned the rules of alcohol-use for communion Mark 8.

Peter warned (v27-31):

o Story time! The prediction is in Zechariah 13:7-9.

Jesus in Gethsemane (v32-42):

o Story time! Jesus sweating blood is discussed in the homework.

Jesus is captured (v43-52):

o Story time! More about how Jesus was caught (and its prediction) in the homework.

Jesus before the Jewish Council (v53-65):

o Jesus was __________ when they accused Him, and this was foretold in Isaiah 53:7.

Jesus denied by Peter (v66-72):

o Story time! Even Peter got ____________________ Mark 16:7!

HOMEWORK – TO READ

Holy Communion proposal:

o Beautiful wine glasses, old-fashioned tablecloths (sackcloth), (white, brown, green, and red color shades) small bread baskets for bread, candles & flowers.

o Christian & Christmas music, about Jesus, which may switch from sad to happy music.

o If you want to include wine, buy just enough for each person to taste, and go with 4th Street Sweet Red. The event is not about the wine. Use good grape juice instead.

o Why sweet? Because although the wine is traditionally represented as bitter to commemorate Jesus' bitter death, it is represented as sweet to remember the sweet liberation that Jesus brought to the cross!

o Fruit suggestions for the table: Turkish figs, dates, coconut milk, almonds and pistachio nuts with raisins, grapes, olives, and cherries! You can also add avocado pear, and lemon!

o Make light salads.

o For dessert, suggestions: Milk food, granadilla fridge tart, milk tart, etc. Something old fashioned and natural.

Recipe suggestion for leg of lamb for a communion feast:

o Ingredients (choose what you will enjoy, and season to your own taste): o 3kg BONELESS Mutton leg (buy according to the number of people required)

▪ Do NOT put wine in the meat!!!

▪ (3Kg of meat requires 4 hours of slow-roasting, and then 1 hour extra per extra kg) o Sour cream and flavored dipping powder → Use this to make a dipping sauce for the table.

o Olive oil – Exodus 27:20

o Honey/Apricot Jam/Chutney/etc. – Psalm 119:103, Song of Solomon 2:3-4

o 1-2 Beef stock blocks

o 1 Cup of water/Coke

o Worchester Spice

o Brown onion spices

o Rosemary sprigs

o Anise – Matthew 23:23

o Coriander – Exodus 16:31 & Numbers 11:7

o Cinnamon – Exodus 30:23 & Revelation 18:13

o Cumin – Isaiah 28:25 & Matthew 23:23

o Dill – Matthew 23:23

o Garlic (finely chopped) – Numbers 11:5

o Lots of Onions (coarsely chopped or cut into half-moon rings) o Mint – Matthew 23:23 & Luke 11:42

o Mustard –Matthew 13:31

o Rue – Luke 11:42

o Salt - Ezra 6:9 & Job 6:6

o Kosher salt – Brilliant flavor (you can also use the smoked Kosher salt version) o Pepper – Song of Solomon 4:13-15

120

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

o Method:

o Mix your favorite spices and wet ingredients together to taste (without the sweet honey ingredients & the oil). Do not use ALL the spices. Just your favorite.

o Pierce the mutton bolt full of deep knife holes, and shallow fork holes and spread the spices over it.

▪ Make sure the garlic is pressed into the deep holes of the meat.

▪ You can also use a marinade injection to inject the sauce deep into the meat.

o Put a decent THICK layer of onions and a little olive oil at the bottom of a deep oven pan.

▪ Place the meat on top of the onions and pour the beef stock-block dissolved in a cup of water/Coke into it.

▪ Cover it. Leave the meat to soak (infuse) in the fridge for 1-2 days. Turn every 12

hours.

o Take the meat out of the fridge to reach room temperature, and preheat the oven to 170°C.

Here you can also add potatoes and mushrooms if you want.

o Now put the meat in the oven with a closed lid (or covered with foil).

▪ Let it cook slowly for up to 4 hours, or until soft and cooked (according to meat weight).

o Then take out the meat, open the lid and check if the meat is cooked and soft everywhere.

▪ If soft and cooked, you can take the meat out of the water mixture and spread a little honey oil on the meat.

▪ Pour the meat-water into a separate bowl where you can thicken it with a sauce powder, if necessary, for sauce. Also taste the sauce and decide if extra salt is needed.

o Choose one of 2 options to make the meat brown and crispy:

1. Put the meat back in the oven WITHOUT a lid to brown for up to 30min per side.

Check often and spread a little of the pan sauce on top of the meat with a brush every 10 minutes if necessary.

2. You can also preferably throw the meat on a braai instead to brown for roughly 30-45 minutes and absorb some of the smoke flavor. Make sure you turn the meat FREQUENTLY, so the honey doesn't burn black.

o When the meat is ready, put it hot in a nice table-bowl, and break the meat into pieces.

Pour the sauce over the meat, and serve it just like that, with the first heat!

1. Also plan the bread, butter, and other foods properly to have the table ready for dinner time with all the food freshly warm.

o ENJOY THE MEAL!

Recipes of the unleavened bread:

o The unleavened bread is called Matzo by the Jews and is specifically used for the feast of the unleavened bread during the Jewish Passover, or the Christian Easter.

o Many Matzo recipes exist that can be terrific snacks, and their ingredients sometimes include onions, eggs, butter, milk, barley, and other things, but for Passover only the basic Matzo can be used, or one that contains barley. and egg or oats in it is also acceptable. No grain wine or garlic or fruit juice or other things were allowed during Easter.

o THE KOSHER UNLEAVED BREAD RECIPE:

- Ingredients:

121

C Viljoen

- 4 ½ cups flour (plus extra for rolling out)

- 1 teaspoon Kosher salt (and a little extra for later)

- 2 tablespoons olive oil (no other oil)

- ¾ cup and ¼ cup hot water, separately

- Method:

- Preheat the oven to 260C.

- Mix the ingredients together quickly (less than 18 minutes) and add a little water if the batter is too stiff.

- Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll out each piece 3-5mm thin.

- Cut the dough into cubes as big as you want and prick the dough with a fork if bubbles are to be avoided.

- You can paint salt water with a brush over the dough for a greater salty taste.

- Put all the dough on oven-pans, and make sure they don't touch each other.

- Bake for 90 seconds on each side, or until the pastry is golden brown.

o ANOTHER UNLEAVED BREAD RECIPE:

- Ingredients:

- 4 cups whole grain flour

- 1 cup white flour

- 2 cups of water

- ¼ cup honey

- 1 ½ teaspoon Kosher salt

- ¼ cup olive oil

- Method:

- Mix all the ingredients together well and quickly in less than 18 minutes before it MUST go into a preheated oven, before it is pickled.

- Roll it out about 3.5mm thick and put it on a greased pan (NOT WITH PORK FAT).

- Cut it into 1-inch or larger cubes according to feel.

- Bake at 210C for 15 minutes or until it is light brown and has made dark bubbles.

The bread should be quite crispy.

Jesus sweat blood:

o Jesus sweat blood while praying Luke 22:44. The condition's name is Hematidrosis today, and it's very rare. The cause is terrible great anxiety v34 & Matthew 26:38. WOW!

o Jesus was the last Adam in the garden 1 Corinthians 15:21 & 45!

The anointing oils of the old and New Testament:

o An alabaster flask is a flask/box/dish (vial) in which oils or perfumes were stored. The jar was made of alabaster stone, almost like granite or marble or even ivory. A really good quality flask for the most expensive of contents. The box's stoppers were usually sealed with wax.

o There are TWO cases of Alabaster jars:

- This story in Mark 14 (& Matthew 26:6-13 & John 12:1-8) is the second case, one week before Jesus' crucifixion, in the house of Simon the leper who was healed by Jesus, and Jesus was anointed by Mary of Bethany who understood what was happening when Jesus was crucified BEFORE His own disciples, the Mary who is like my grandmother Caroline. The Bible never mentions that she was with sin, but only that she wanted to sit at Jesus' feet and listen.

122

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

- The first case was about a year before Jesus' crucifixion, in Luke 7:36-50, in the house of Simon the Pharisee, in Galilee Luke 7:1 & 11. The woman (whose name was not mentioned) came to receive forgiveness of many sins.

o The spikenard ointment does not have a recipe in the Bible, but it is possibly made from the hairy roots of an Indian spikenard plant (Ardostachys Jatamansi) together with precious olive oils and other herbs quite possibly, or it was just the pure root oil of the plant, which grows in the Himalayan mountains including Mount Everest (which is in Asia), from the family of Valerian plants.

o The price of the spikenard ointment was more than 300 pence, and this is almost a year's salary for the slaves who received a denarius a day for their work Matthew 20:9-10.

o Note that JUDAS the betrayer wanted to stop her from anointing Jesus John 12:4. Interesting huh?

o Ointment is used for many reasons:

- Old Testament: Exodus 25:6, Leviticus 8:30, & Numbers 4:16.

- New Testament: Mark 6:13, 14:3-9, James 5:14, & Hebrews 1:8-9.

o The holy salve recipe is in Exodus 30:23-25. The Jews may not have made it for themselves, but rather only the high priest and only on the altar and on other things that God allowed. The Jews were told that they would be seen as gentiles (outsiders who did not share in God's covenant with Abraham) if they made this holy oil for themselves.

o The holy anointing oil recipe and measurements in today's language:

- No one knows exactly how much a shekel weighed. When God told Moses to measure according to the shekel of the sanctuary, He meant that Moses should use the accurate weights of the temple, and not just any average weights Amos 8:5.

- According to Exodus 30:13, 1 shekel is equal to 20 gerahs. According to Jewish TRADITION, 1

gerah is equal to 1/50th of an ounce, or 1 gerah is equal to 0.6 grams. So, 0.6g x 20 = 12g.

So, 1 shekel weighs 12 grams according to Jewish tradition.

- Shekel weights were used to measure many things in the Old Testament: Genesis 24:22, Exodus 30:23, 2 Samuel 14:26, 17:7, & Ezekiel 4:10.

- In a similar way it is measured by tradition, that 1 hin of oil is equal to 3.7 (3.7 Hebrew liters / 5.7 regular liters), but no one is 100% sure.

- Ingredients:

- Use only the highest quality spices.

- 500 Shekels (6 Kg) Fine Myrrh (Pure Myrrh) (600g for small batch)

- 250 Shekels (3 Kg) Sweet Cinnamon (300g for small batch)

- 250 Shekels (3 Kg) Fragrant Calamus (Sweet Calamus) (300g for small batter)

- 500 Shekels (6 Kg) Cassia (600g for small batch)

- 1 hin (5.7 liters) Olive oil (570ml for small batter)

- Method:

- The ingredients above make about 24 Kg of oil. Decide how much you want to make.

Divide this top batter by 10 if you want to make roughly 2kg of oil.

- Mix it all together with the cleanest glass or stone or ivory materials and store it in a properly sealed jar. Let it soak for a few days before using. It lasts for roughly 3 years before it expires, if kept clean.

- You can also replace the dry ingredients with essential oils to avoid the time-consuming extraction process. Choose which strength oil you require below. Mix all the essential oils together, and then stir in the olive oil. Make sure you use extra virgin cold pressed olive oil to be as close to the original Bible version as you can. Store the oil in a dark brown glass 123

C Viljoen

bottle. You can use any glass or porcelain bottle that is not brightly translucent. The values below were obtained by considering the oldest extraction process (extraction method) called “steam distillation”, together with the highest quality spice yield. Oils of Bible times were made much more potent than modern day practice normally does.

- More information about the spices:

- Myrrh is gum that comes from small thorn trees called Commiphora, and can be used in perfumes, spices, incense, medicine, and wine.

- Cinnamon is cinnamon. ☺

- Calamus is a spice plant powder that is made (by grinding a dry plant) with the name of “sweet flag plant”, or the “Acorus Calamus of Linnaeus”. It is also called a Sweet Cane, or a Bitter Pepper Carrot. In Europe it is called “German Ginger” and is used to make wines and spices and soap.

- Cassia is a type of cinnamon made from the bark of the “Cinnamomum cassia plant”

from the Lauraceae family. This bark has a much sharper flavor than regular cinnamon. The trees also grow in Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and East Asia, and are used for spices, teas, and health drinks.

- Olive oil is olive oil. ☺

o We are not under the covenant of Abraham, so we can make the oil if we want, because we are outsiders (sinners) who fall under the blood of Jesus, we share in His new covenant 1 John 2:20.

More about Judas:

o It seems that Judas went to hell for what he did... But we must remember that Judas repented for his sin - Matthew 27:3-5. And as we know Jesus went to hell to call the dead to repentance to make it fair for everyone in history as well as in the future, so what if Judas went to hell but accepted Jesus in hell and received forgiveness, then Jesus went to preach to them? No one knows for sure where Judas is, but let's hope he is in heaven, so we can hear his story too! For an in-depth study of Judas and his death, go to the extra study work of the Revelation series.

o The Pharisees asked Judas to show them who Jesus is Mark 14. THEN THEY TALKED TO JESUS EVERY

DAY IN THE TEMPLE! Why did Judas have to show them who Jesus is? Because their minds were darkened by the hand of God so that the prediction could take place v49.

o The prediction of the 30-shekel silver traitor in Matthew 26:15 happened in Psalm 41:10, Zechariah 11:12-13 & Isaiah 64:8!

124

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

o They sent a whole crowd to catch Jesus v43, John 18:3-9 & 17:12 (prediction).

Who was Johannes Markus (John Mark):

o The “certain young man” in v51 is only mentioned in Mark. Note that Mark's name was also John

Acts 12:1-17, but everyone called him Mark, probably to distinguish him from John, the author of John. Was this Johannes Markus (John Mark) perhaps the “certain young man” who wanted to follow Jesus after Paul refused to let him, because he once gave up working for Jesus? To know more about Markus' younger days when he was still uncertain about the faith, read: Acts 4, 12, 13, 15, Colossians 4:10, Philemon 1:24, & 2 Timothy 4:11.

Can we ever pray as Jesus prayed in the garden:

o Prayer is very important because it is the one thing that brings us closer to God. Psalm 4:1. We want to be close to God, because then things can go well for us on earth and in heaven. Prayer is what protects us from evil. To talk to God is to build a relationship with Him, so that He can listen more clearly to our questions and bless us. There are many different types of prayers, and only some prayers are answered, so it is important to pray correctly.

o How does God teach us to pray?

a. Matthew 6:5-13 – The Lord's Prayer.

b. John 14:13 – The Name of Jesus.

c. Colossians 4:2 – Pray with thanksgiving.

d. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 – Continuous prayer.

e. Mark 9:24, 25, & 29, & Matthew 6:17 - Strong prayers come with faith and fasting and with the anointing oil. Romans 8:26 – The Holy Spirit is the true Jacob.

o What can you pray for?

a. 1 John 5:14 – Anything that is God's Will, will be answered for us.

b. Matthew 5:44 – Pray for your persecutors.

c. Ephesians 3:20 – God can do even better than our best thoughts.

o Can we pray softly, or pray in our thoughts and will God hear it?

a. 1 Corinthians 14:15, Genesis 24:45, & 1 Samuel 1:12-13.

o What does Amen mean?

a. 2 Corinthians 1:20 – Amen is what we say at the end of a prayer, and it means “So be it!”.

Let it be so.

b. Deuteronomy 27:14-26 - God commanded that everyone say Amen after the reading of the law.

o Are there any wrong ways of Prayer?

a. Matthew 6:5

o How do you get your prayers answered?

a. Matthew 18:18-20 – You come together in groups and pray for the same thing.

b. Mark 11:24 – Believe and move on as if you already got it.

c. James 1:6, Romans 10:17 – Do not doubt.

d. John 15:7 – Know the word of God.

e. Galatians 6:9, Luke 6:45 – Do good deeds. What you sow you will reap.

f. Philippians 4:6, Psalm 37:4 – Be thankful and put God first.

g. Philippians 4:8-9 – Be positive.

h. Luke 6:38, Malachi 3:10 - Test the Lord with the tithes.

o What if they remain unanswered?

125

C Viljoen

a. James 4:3 – When we pray for the wrong reasons.

b. Matthew 5:22-24 – When we judge others.

c. John 9:31 – When we sin.

o Example of prayer in the Bible?

a. 1 Chronicles 4:10 – The prayer of Jabez.

b. John 11:42 – Jesus' prayer.

c. Luke 18:13 – A tax collector

o Extra verses about prayer: I Kings 18:26 & 29, Luke 6:28, James 5:16, 1 John 1:9, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, 1 Timothy 2:8, Psalm 139:23, Colossians 1: 9-15, Proverbs 4:23.

What will happen to the Jews if they do not believe in Jesus?

o According to Genesis 17:7, God made an ETERNAL covenant with the Jews. So, the covenant of the Jews is always available to those who want to believe in it and follow its ordinances. God would be a liar if He broke this covenant Numbers 23:19. God does not break covenants Psalm 89:35. The new covenant does not cancel the old one Matthew 5:17-20, nor does the old covenant cancel the new one Hebrews 9:15 (the verse is explained below). All two covenants run side by side, forever.

God made an eternal covenant with the Jews Genesis 17:7, and Jesus made an eternal covenant with the Christians Hebrews 9:11-12.

o Hebrews 8:13 says that the old covenant is close to disappearing. That doesn't mean he disappeared. Because there is not a Bible verse that says that it has already disappeared. The old covenant will only be able to perish after the end of the world, because it must be able to last forever. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that if you ARE IN CHRIST, old things have passed away. So, for all who are NOT IN CHRIST, the old things still count.

o Hebrews 9:15 ONLY THOSE WHO ARE CALLED to the service of Jesus will be able to receive the eternal inheritance for the forgiveness of sins. What does the word “CAN” mean? That means it's your choice! The covenant of Jesus is available FOR THOSE WHO CHOOSE to move out of the old covenant into the new one, but both covenants are active.

o Why did Paul say that we are bound to keep the whole law if we are circumcised for the old covenant, if the old covenant has expired - Galatians 5:3?

o Galatians 5 tells us that the acts of sin bring us under the law of the Old Testament, but that the acts of love bring us under the grace of Jesus.

o 1 Corinthians 7:19 Jesus said that circumcision is now nothing, and also the UN-circumcision is nothing. Jesus made it clear with His new covenant that the heart must be circumcised in faith Jeremiah 4:4 (and Romans 2:29) and it is also this verse in Jeremiah that proves that the Holy Spirit is an unquenchable fire, the same one which will kindle the eternal fire of hell Matthew 18:8.

According to the verse in Corinthians, no physical circumcision under the new covenant is important anymore, AS LONG AS you follow the LAW.

o Jesus himself also followed the Jewish covenant because even He was circumcised Luke 2:21, and many times after He healed people, He told them to go and do everything that is in the Jewish law regarding the sacrifices, as a testimony to the people that the law is still in action Luke 5:14, Matthew 8:8, etc!

o The law did not fall away with the coming of Jesus. It is still in action. Only difference is:

- If you are a Jew, and accept the Jewish covenant, you will have to observe the complete law of the Jews, and this includes the laws of the sacrifices that must be made every year for the atonement of sins.

126

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

- If you are a Christian, you still have to follow the laws just like the Jews, but Jesus took away all the impurity laws Acts 10:11-15, so we no longer have to follow the statutes as Christians Ephesians 2 :14-16, BUT we must still be subject to the ordinary laws. Christians can no longer become impure, but their sins can still blacken their souls Jeremiah 2:22, asking for their forgiveness Hebrews 9:12-14. AND we must do Galatians 6:2 & Matthew 22:37-40.

o Why does this information make sense?

- Because the Bible describes the “pre-tribulation rapture” in Revelation 3:10 & 1

Thessalonians 5:9, which would mean that the church (Christians) will be raptured just before the last 7 years of the earth Daniel 9:27, where the tribulation happens. BUT the Jews are not under the covenant of the Holy Spirit. Rather, they are under the covenant of God the Father himself as we learned earlier, and according to Revelation the Jews are not snatched away but are going to stay behind and be protected in the desert by God's own hand during the tribulation Revelation 12:6.

- When the word says that Jesus is the end for the law “FOR righteousness to all who believe”

Romans 10:4 it does NOT mean that the law falls away. The law must still be followed by EVERYONE, but you can choose to no longer use the law for your righteousness, but rather for Jesus. Galatians 3:23-29 Explain how we still share in the promise of Abraham.

o Also realize that the laws of impurity are NOT SIN - IT'S JUST UNPURITY!

- We know this because all the Jews who experience a discharge (and this includes married couples) become unclean. God wants us to get married and raise children for Him. Why will He punish us if we become temporarily impure through the act of sex - which is our greatest work from God or by burying the dead's bodies, etc? The impurity is not punished. You are just not allowed in the temple - for a little while Leviticus 15:16, 18, 27, 19:11 until you are clean again, because anyone who even touches the mountain where God descends with unclean hands will be scorched Exodus 19:12, because GOD IS PERFECT AND COMPLETELY

CLEAN!!! WOW!

- God did say that if you dare to touch clean things that belong to God with an unclean body, you will be cut off from among your people, meaning the Jews, in Leviticus 7:21, because you make the temple impure.

- Now don't misunderstand:

▪ Tattoos are not something that makes you unclean. It is not a setting. This is unfortunately a law Leviticus 19:28. How do we know that? Because when God commanded us not to tattoo, He did NOT say you become unclean… He said that it damages the temple of God, and so it is not an impurity ordinance, but a complete and eternal law, because God even reminds us that He is God. Furthermore, you can ask yourself: If God says in 1 Corinthians 10:31 that everything you do must be for God's glory, can tattoos glorify God? Why did God want no one to harm their bodies anyway? According to Romans 14:23 we see that if we do anything with the slightest doubt as to whether it is right or wrong, it is wrong. Our bodies belong to God; He bought us for a price, and who are we to damage such a body without direct permission 1 Corinthians 6:19-20? Now that doesn't mean you are condemned for having tattoos. Forgiveness is available to all who ask 1 John 1:9, Hebrews 10:17, Psalm 103:12, & John 8:11.

▪ Being gay or mixing any incestuous blood between man and animal is also NOT

called impurity in the Bible, but rather an abomination Leviticus 20:12-15, etc. , which means that that law also is NOT an impurity ordinance, but exactly like the words “an abomination”. It is a complete and eternal law, which is confirmed in the 127

C Viljoen

New Testament also, in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 & Jude 1 :7 – A Sodomite is a homosexual person according to Ezekiel 16:48-50, Genesis 18:20, 19:4-5 & 24.

▪ When you read the laws, and the word says that it makes you “unclean”, that does not mean it is sin. It just means that you may not touch the Holy things of God, until you have become clean again. And the Christians can no longer become impure, so the statutes do not apply to us, as we have already seen.

▪ When you read the laws, and the word “unclean” IS NOT THERE, then it means that the law is an eternal law that must be completely followed and that completely counts as part of the 10 commandments, whether you are a Jew or not. or is a Christian. The Christian is forgiven through the blood of Jesus, and the Jew is forgiven through the blood of the annual lamb sacrifice.

o To summarize: The law counts for everyone. The two covenants do not replace each other. We have a choice which of the two covenants we want to live under and follow. The old ETERNAL

covenant that God made with Abraham and all the Jews which includes all the laws and ordinances, or the NEW covenant that Jesus made with the Christians, which includes all the laws without the ordinances.

o So, the question is:

- Do you want to sacrifice a lamb without blemish every year for your sins on the altar of the Jews, and have yourself circumcised, and fully observe all the laws and ordinances, or:

- Do you want to accept Jesus (the Last Lamb) as your personal Savior, once in your entire life, and follow all the laws, with the freedom to ask forgiveness for sins, and to keep the laws of love and good deeds, rather than the annual sacrifice?

- It's your choice.

The license to sin?

o Jesus gave us a new commandment, namely love, and He also says that love automatically fulfills the entire law! Does this mean that we now have a license to sin, as long as we handle everything with love? NO IT DOES NOT AT ALL!

- John 13:34 - A new commandment I give you, that you should love one another; as I have loved you, you also must love one another.

- Galatians 5:14 - Because the whole law is fulfilled in one word, namely: You must love your neighbor as yourself.

- Romans 5:18 - Therefore then, just as it came to condemnation for all men through one crime, so it is through one act of justice for all men to the justification of life.

- Luke 16:17 - But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fall.

- Matthew 5:18 - For truly I say to you, before heaven and earth pass away, not one iota or one tittle will ever pass from the law until all is fulfilled.

- Romans 6:1-2 - WHAT shall we say then? Shall we remain in sin, that grace may increase?

No, definitely not! We who have died to sin, how can we still live in it?

- Romans 6:15 - What then? Will we sin because we are not under the law but under grace?

No, definitely not!

- Romans 7:7 - What shall we say then? Is the law sin? No, definitely not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except by the law; for I also would not have known lust if the law had not said: Thou shalt not lust.

LISTENING LESSON & CONVERSATION ON MARK 14

Do: Pop quiz 1 orally.

PRACTICAL LESSON TO MARK 14

KEEP COMMUNION FESTIVAL THE RIGHT WAY AS JESUS TEACHED US

It is shockingly important that we learn to serve one another with humility Matthew 25:40, 23:11, Mark 9:35, 10:44-45, Luke 6:38, Galatians 5:13, & 2 Chronicles 15:7. Jesus first washed His disciples' feet in the upper room John 13:1-17, and then they kept communion, not because it is a sin to eat with dirty hands or feet Mark 7:2, but to teach us to be humble James 4:10. All the disciples could do was wonder which of them would be the greatest, in Luke 22:24, while Jesus was predicted as the humble servant in Isaiah 53 & Matthew 20:28. We have in Mark 9 learned who the disciple “whom Jesus loved” was.

Peter was not at all happy that Jesus wanted to wash his feet, so Jesus told him John 13:8, 15 & 17. The word is the water, and it is important because: Ephesians 5:26 & 2 Timothy 3:16-17. If Jesus could do it, how can we be too good for it?

In this practical lesson we are going to wash each other's feet and celebrate the Lord's Supper like Jesus!

INSTRUCTIONS

1. This is a group lesson, so we are going to have to do it with our fellow disciples.

2. WASH YOUR FEET! For reasons of hygiene, we are first going to clip our own toenails, and give our feet a proper wash (or two).

3. Walk barefoot during this hands-on lesson, so your feet stay fresh.

4. Anoint YOURSELF with olive oil or salve oil and wash your face.

5. Put on Christian & Christmas music, maybe with candles or oil lamps on the table, in the dark!

6. Open with prayer & read aloud all the instances and instructions of the Lord's Supper: Matthew 26:17-30, Mark 14:12-26, Luke 22:7-23, John 13:1-30 & 1 Corinthians 11:23-29.

7. Wash each other's feet: → Feel free to drop a drop of anointing oil in the water if you like, and OPEN with prayer.

o Fill a bowl with hot water, put a cloth or sponge in it, and throw a towel over your shoulder.

o Choose a fellow disciple, and wash (just gently rinse) their feet.

o Dry their feet and sit down so the next person can do the same.

8. Enjoy a meal together at the table, of lamb and unleavened bread and sauces, with a glass of wine or juice, and talk about Jesus and Judas' passages. Recipe suggestions in the homework. Then: o Take the bread & thank God: “Jesus, thank you that Your body was broken for our sins, for our healing”. Break it & give it to everyone to eat. Tell everyone that it is Jesus' body.

o Take the cup & thank God: “Jesus, thank you that Your blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins, so that we can live with You in the New Testament”. Give everyone to drink from the same cup. Tell everyone that it is Jesus' blood, the New Testament & new covenant.

- Wipe the cup clean after you have drunk from him, for reasons of hygiene.

- It's important to use the same cup because everyone drank from Jesus' cup, which He sent around, so keep it squeaky-clean.

9. Don't forget to laugh and be happy Isaiah 61:1, Philippians 4:4-9 & Ecclesiastes 9:7-10!

10. Feel free to sing a verse of Amazing Grace, and close with prayer.

11. Enjoy it! → Feast talk topic ideas on next page. Also remember student stories.

MARK 15 – THE GREATEST MIRACLE THAT OUR HANDS CAN PERFORM

Who, what, where, when, how and why did Jesus die? Were the Jews jealous of Jesus? Who is Barabbas; and Herod; and Pontius Pilate; and Simon of Cyrene; and Joseph of Arimathea? Did they have Jesus

scourged? What was the greatest miracle of the people?

REMEMBER: Pop quiz 2 is coming up on this lesson, on page 141.

Read Mark 15.

In chapter 15 we read the sad story of Jesus' FIVE court cases, His punishment, and His death on the cross.

Jesus before Pilate (v1-20):

o Also read: Matthew 27, Luke 22-23, & John 18-19.

- Annas → An old high priest and _____________________________ of Caiaphas Luke 3:2.

- Caiaphas → The new high priest, who told the Jews that Jesus must ______ for the people.

- Pontius Pilate → Governor of Judea, who washed his hands in ____________________. Did Pilate perhaps repent if you look at John 19:19-22?

- Herod → ____________________ of the Jews (over Judea) in Israel appointed by the Romans. He mocked Jesus and put clothes on Him Matthew 2:3.

- Tiberius → It's the Roman __________ (the “Caesar” or the “Emperor”) of the whole world.

- Barabbas → A very famous murderer & __________.

- Simon of Cyrene → Carried Jesus’ __________ with Him.

- Joseph of Arimathea → The man who built Jesus’ __________.

- Jesus → v2, 32, Matthew 27:17-18, 37, 43, 3:17, 16:16, & Revelation 19:16. Wow!

o Jesus was silent, like a lamb before his slaughter Isaiah 53:7. First Jesus, and then us Revelation 8:1.

The crucifixion (v21-41):

o Jesus prayed for our sins __________ He is crucified Luke 23:34.

o Jesus was crucified with __________, as foretold in Isaiah 53:12.

o Jesus was 100% __________ with His crucifixion, and it was foretold (John 19:23 & Psalm 22:19).

o They usually broke a corpse's legs to make sure he was __________ before they put it in a grave.

- They did NOT break Jesus' bones, because it was foretold Psalm 34:20-21.

o The vinegar water that He had to drink was also predicted Psalm 69:21-22!

o His clothes were divided among the people “by casting lots” (Mark 15:24), and this means that people won His clothes by rolling dice.

o Pilate asked the popular question “What is truth?” in John 18:38.

The burial (v42-47):

o John 19:39 Nicodemus embalmed Jesus with over 45Kg (100lbs) of spices.

o Matthew 27:62-66 Guards attended the grave!

Read John 15:13 & Revelation 13:8. Jesus covers ALL, and ALL will praise God. The greatest “miracle” we could perform was the death of the innocent King Genesis 3:6.

HOMEWORK – TO READ

There is more than one King Herod:

o The first one (Herod the Great) wanted to kill baby Jesus at the very beginning.

o The second one (Herod of Antipas) was there during Jesus' death on the cross.

o This is the son of Herod the Great.

o His father ruled over Israel alone, and then asked the Romans to make a “four princes” for his 4 children, so that each could rule over a portion of Israel. So, this boy is only the king of Judea in Israel but is still a king with his brothers.

The places where Jesus had to walk in Jerusalem for His court business, in order: o Also to be found in the homework of Mark 11, in the list of places that Jesus visited on foot.

o Jesus was across the brook Kedron in Gethsemane, where He was imprisoned in chains.

o Then they took him to high priest Annas and insulted him.

o Then Annas sends Him to the high priest Caiaphas.

o Then they went to Pontius Pilate, the governor's palace in a place called The Pavement.

o Pilate could find no fault in Jesus, and after they dressed Jesus in red and purple clothes with a crown of thorns to mock him and beat and spit on him, Pilate sent them away to King Herod, because the case they were against Jesus was for the king of Israel's jurisdiction (area/power area), not for the governor of Judea (in Israel).

o King Herod also could not find anything wrong with Jesus, and together with his soldiers dressed Jesus in shiny clothes that were the clothes of their kings and mocked Him. All the clothes of the great harlot in Revelation for mockery by the devil himself perhaps, eh?

o Then King Herod sent Him back to the governor Pilate, where they scourged Jesus, and where Pilate at his judgment seat handed Jesus over to the Jews to be crucified, after saying 3 times that Jesus had no guilt John 18:38, 19:4, & 6.

o The Jews then took Jesus to Golgotha (place of the Skull) where Jesus was crucified.

o The order of power of the men above is in Luke 3:1-2.

- A high priest rules over a group of people of a particular faith.

- A governor rules over a bunch of people/towns in a country.

- A king rules over ONE whole country.

- An Emperor or “Caesar” rules over a bunch of kings/countries.

The days and hours of everything, from the day 1 week before the crucifixion, until the resurrection: o Jesus comes to town on Palm Sunday, one week before the RESURRECTION, and therefore one week before the Passover (our Easter), as we Mark 11 learned.

o Judas betrayed Jesus one day before Easter, as we learned in Mark 14.

o They took him around right through the night until the morning when Easter begins, to be judged everywhere between Pilate and Herod.

o Judas committed suicide in a place called Field of Blood, the same day Jesus was in court.

o Then Jesus was taken to Calvary to be crucified, on Easter (Good Friday).

- Remember the Jewish day is from 6-6 (06:00-18:00), which is sunrise to sunset in Israel.

- Jesus was crucified at our 9 o'clock (the 3rd hour of the Jewish day) (v25).

- Between our 12 & 3 o'clock (the 6th & 9th hours of the Jewish day) it was dark (v33).

134

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

- 3 o'clock (the 9th hour of the Jewish day) Jesus prayed and they offered Him vinegar to drink, and He died, and the great curtain in front of the temple was torn in two and a great earthquake came that split rocks (v34-38 & Matthew 27:46-51).

- Let's look at the days in order as we will celebrate them in 2025... Note that Monday is the first day of the week for Christians, and Sunday is the last day for us: o Sunday 13 April 2025 → Palm Sunday.

- Jesus rides into the city on a donkey

o Thursday 17 April 2025 → Jesus was caught in the garden of Gethsemane.

- Jesus & the disciples celebrate Passover. The first communion takes place.

- Judas betrays Jesus & commits suicide.

- Jesus goes to court, right through the night, until the next day.

o Friday 18 April 2025 → good Friday

- Jesus is crucified in the morning and dies in the afternoon!

- DAY 1 OF HIS DEATH IN THE GRAVE!

o Saturday 19 April 2025 → Jesus still in the tomb.

- DAY 2 OF HIS DEATH IN THE GRAVE!

o Sunday 20 April 2025 → Easter Sunday (Easter Sunday).

- Jesus rises from the dead ON THE THIRD DAY!!!

- It's the Jewish Passover, or the Christian's Easter (communion) day, exactly 1

week (7 days) after Palm Sunday.

o Thursday 29 May 2025 → SKYLINE DAY!

- Jesus sails up to heaven and promises to send us the Holy Spirit!!!

- It's 40 days after Jesus' resurrection. Meanwhile, Jesus appeared on earth to various people in His glorified body.

o Sunday 08 June 2025 → PENTECOST DAY!

- The Holy Spirit descends upon us, and everyone receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit which includes tongues!!! Tongues of Fire!

- It's 50 days after Jesus' resurrection, or 10 days after Jesus ascended.

- Can we say anything? Are there words, or can we just say thank you? Jesus is amazing!

- NOTE: Our modern (Gregorian) calendar runs from Sunday to Saturday, which means that our last day of the week is actually Saturday, although few people realize this.

- The Jewish calendar was from Monday to Sunday.

- So, the “before Sabbath” in Mark 15:42, on which Jesus died, is for us Christians ONE DAY

BEFORE SATURDAY! And as we can see above, Jesus died on Friday, which means SATURDAY is the Christian's SABBATH DAY.

- BUT! The before Sabbath for the Jews is ONE DAY BEFORE SUNDAY, which would mean that according to the Jews Jesus died on a Saturday, and that Sunday is their Sabbath.

- For interest: It does not matter today which day you rest for the Sabbath, nor whether you rest or work Colossians 2:16-17 & Romans 14:5-6.

- The feast of the unleavened bread which usually lasts 7-8 days around Easter taught us in

Mark 14. The actual festival is only 7 days, BUT it could last up to 8 days because the people had the “before Sabbath”, on which many families had already started to slaughter the lamb

Matthew 27:62, Mark 15:42, & Luke 23:54.

- More about the days, months, years, and seasons in the author's “Calendar Stuff” notes that do not form part of this series.

Did Jesus go to hell after His death?

o Let's first see what places exist in the spiritual world:

- Bosom of Abraham → The waiting room of heaven, for believers.

o After the first death.

o The souls that are here are waiting for the rapture of their bodies that will change into glorified bodies. It's for saints who are NOT judged to hell, but who will be judged according to what they did for God on earth before they get their crowns and go into heaven. For more verses, check out the Revelation series.

o Luke 16:22, Ephesians 4:8-10, & Psalm 16:10-11.

- Hades (Sheol/Hades) → The waiting room of hell, for unbelievers.

o After the first death.

o The souls who are here are waiting for the final white-throne judgment, in which they will give an account for all their deeds, and then be sent to hell for eternity. For more verses, check out the Revelation series.

o Acts 2:27-31, Luke 16:23, Ephesians 4:8-10, 1 Peter 3:18-20, Psalm 16:10-11, 88:3-5, Isaiah 26:19, & 1 Peter 4: 6.

- Heaven → The place of eternal rest for believers.

o All the believers in the Bosom of Abraham will live together with the angels and together with God in Heaven forever, after the second death of the unbelievers, who come together to judge the great white throne. It is also only AFTER the rapture, and AFTER the tribulation, because a few souls in the tribulation will still be able to go to heaven as mortars. We will only enter heaven when Jesus has finished preparing it for everyone. For more verses, check out the Revelation series.

o John 14:2-3, Ephesians 4:8-10, 1 Kings 8:30, Psalm 115:3, Matthew 6:9, 10:32, Ephesians 6:9, Psalm 2:4, 5:4, Isaiah 53 :15, & Daniel 4:37.

- Hell (Gehenna) → The place of eternal suffering for unbelievers.

o All the unbelievers in Hades (Sheol/Hades) together with the evil spirits and the devil will be bound in unbreakable chains and will be in hell forever, which comes after the second death of the unbelievers, which comes together to judge the great white throne. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, where the worm dies and never consumes the body (will feel pain forever without end). For more verses, check out the Revelation series.

o Ephesians 4:8-10, Matthew 5:29-30, 8:12, 10:28, 22:13, 25:30, 41-46, Mark 9:43, 2

Peter 2:4, Luke 8:31, Revelation 9:1-2, & James 3:6.

- The earth → Where evil spirits and Satan are walking around right now.

o This spirit world only exists before the return of Jesus, and NO human spirits walk the earth (good OR bad), as we learned earlier!!!

o 1 Peter 5:8.

o Hell, and Hades are UNDER THE EARTH, because Jesus and others who went to hell had to DESCEND

to there. Matthew 11:23, & Luke 10:15.

o The heaven and the bosom of Abraham are ABOVE SPACE, because Jesus and the others who went to heaven had to ASCEND UP there or were moved up to the “3rd heaven”. Our oxygen heaven (where birds fly) is the first heaven; space (where the stars are) is the second heaven; and heaven where God is - is outside space! WOW that's far! so no one will be able to get to God by flying there. He's going to have to come GET us! Matthew 11:23, Luke 10:15 & 2 Corinthians 12:2.

o Here in 1 Peter 3:18-20 the Bible says that Jesus went to preach in Hades, while here in Luke 23:43

it says that Jesus told the sinner at His right hand that TODAY he will be with Jesus in heaven, shortly before Jesus died. How could Jesus now be in heaven AND hell? There are many answers:

- Jesus is a spirit after death and can be everywhere at the same time.

- Perhaps after His death Jesus first took the sinner to the Bosom of Abraham, and then descended into Hades to save the lost souls.

- When Jesus said in John 20:17: “Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father...” we can understand that Jesus did not ascend to HEAVEN, but to the Bosom of Abraham, in which He had already took the newly prepared souls out of hell (and also the sinner on His right hand) to be at rest before the rapture. So, Jesus did not ascend to the place where the Father walks, but only where the souls walk in rest.

o The Bible makes it very clear in many verses that Jesus FIRST DESCENDED into the realm of the dead, to preach to the old testament's disobedient souls to repentance with Jesus' blood, to make the word right through fair for all.

o Many souls in hell could ignore Jesus' sermon, such as:

- The souls who were leaders and hardened sinners, or the souls who hate God that He could ever make such a disgusting place (although all were forewarned that they could escape it).

Don't forget: God is God. He owns everything and He makes the rules, whether we like it or not. He manages things as He wants, regardless of our opinion!

- The souls who were really evil and believe that one day Satan will defeat Jesus after the rapture.

- The evil spirits who are already under chains in hell (refer to the Revelation series).

- So many souls could accept Jesus' blood as forgiveness and go to heaven, and many could also reject Jesus' free ransom as they wait together for the demons to try to conquer for God in the end. What a thought!

o When Jesus rose from the dead 3 days later, many departed saints rose from the dead with Him Matthew 27:52! Who could they be, other than sinners who repented in Hades?

o It cannot be that Jesus only took the saints in Abraham's Bosom together with their bodies into heaven with God. Because that would mean that every time someone dies, their bodies immediately disappear, and their spirits go straight to heaven? No grave, no bosom of Abraham?

o Did Jesus go to hell? No. Did Jesus go to Hades? Yes! And now He is in heaven.

o Other verses to look up on this topic: Revelation 1:18, 2:11, 20:6-15, 21:1-5, 8, Matthew 16:18, Luke 16:23, 26, 1 John 1:7 -9, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 6:14, John 5:28-29, 19:30, 2 Kings 2:1-11, Psalm 11:7, Matthew 17:1-9, 18:10, 1 Corinthians 5:1-10, 2 Thessalonians 1:9, Hebrews 6:2, 2 Peter 2:17,

& Mark 16:16.

We know what Jesus did after His death, but what happens to US after death: o Why is there death, and what *benefits* does it have?

- It was never the Lord's plan that anyone should die.

- Romans 5:12 & 1 Corinthians 15:22 Sin brings death. Adam sinned first. We are his descendants. We all inherit the sin (and therefore also the punishment for sin), which flows in Adam's blood. That's where a father's job becomes important. Actions count, not words.

137

C Viljoen

- Death originated with sin, because sin separates us from God Isaiah 59:1-2, and in God does NOT kill. God brings all life 1 Timothy 6:13. Sin has cast us into darkness, for no light has fellowship with darkness 1 Corinthians 6:14.

- Hebrews 9:22 & John 10:10-11 There was no forgiveness and salvation for sin except through death. Jesus was our last sin offering, for all who believe in Him John 3:5! He takes away all our sins Psalm 103:12.

o Then why was the tree in the garden?

1. Without the tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, we would have no choice but to love God. We would be like ice cold machines obeying their master. But by planting this tree, we could choose to love God ourselves *Genesis 2:17*.

- Short story from the 17th and 18th centuries, of John Milton's epic poem: “Paradise Lost”: Milton's theme: The original sin of Adam and Eve, and the misery of the world until the coming of Christ, is set forth in the opening lines, which speak:

“Of man's first disobedience, and the fruit of that forbidden tree, whose mortal taste, brought death into the world, and all our woe with loss of Eden until One Greater Man restore us and regain the blissful seat.”

Responsible for the corruption of Adam and Eve is the devil, who had previously been driven out of heaven along with his rebel angels for trying to overthrow God.

“Headlong, themselves they threw, down from the verge of heaven. Eternal wrath burned after them to the bottomless pit.”

God and the devil in particular appear as vivid and forceful figures, but Milton makes it clear that the expulsion of Adam and Eve through Eden is just: Though forewarned, Eve had tasted the forbidden fruit with full knowledge of the consequences, and in full possession of her own free will, which God would not transgress. So, the Archangel leads Adam and Eve out of Heaven, but the closing lines of the poem are serenely optimistic about their future, on earth:

“Some natural tears they dropped but wiped them soon. The world was all before them, where to choose their place of rest, and Providence their guide. They, hand in hand, with wandering steps and slow, through Eden took their solitary way.”

o What are the first and second deaths, and how do they happen?

- Romans 14:8, Matthew 10:28 The First death is that of the flesh, and it happens when we take our last breath Ecclesiastes 3:20.

- Daniel 12:2 & Revelation 20:12-13 The Second death is in the spirit, and it only happens to unbelievers who are condemned to this death Revelation 20:14. And what remains for the believers is a second, completely new, young life Revelation 21:4.

o Do we Christians go to heaven immediately after death, or do we sleep in the grave until the rapture?

- Many preachers think we are only going to sleep alone until the rapture, NOT SO! There is no such thing as “Soul-Sleep”! Proof: Psalm 146:4 Our body separates from our soul and spirit and goes to two different places!

- The spirit will be awake with Christ *Philippians 1:21*, 23, 2 Corinthians 5:8, Revelation 6:9-11, Luke 16:22, & 23:43.

- The flesh goes to sleep in the grave Isaiah 26:19, 1 Corinthians 15:18, & 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.

- The soul is our memory and goes with the spirit to account for every action Romans 14:11-13, Jeremiah 31:33, & Hebrews 10:16.

- We are going to remember EVERY LAST sin in our SOUL, because the subconscious mind, which forgets nothing, also comes along. EVERY VAIN WORD… Matthew 12:36. Except the sins for which we have received forgiveness Hebrews 8:12 & Psalm 103:12.

- So, we ARE a Spirit, and HAVE a Soul, and live in a Body.

o How can we know for sure we are ready to go to heaven?

- It's easy, you must just be able to say “yes” to each of these questions: i. Are you a sinner? Romans 3:23

ii. Do you regret and repent of your sins? Mark 1:15

iii. Has Jesus been allowed into your heart, and have you been baptized? John 3:3-16

iv. Are you trying your best not to sin anymore? Galatians 6:1 & Matthew 18:15

v. Do you make an effort not to sin? Hebrews 10:26

vi. Do you let God grow in you every day? 1 John 1:6-10 & Galatians 5:22-23

- Then I'd say you have a good chance!

o Why do some people get more time on earth than others?

- Numbers 14:18 & Romans 2:4 God is patient, so that we can all repent.

- Matthew 5:4, Numbers 31:17 & Matthew 2:13 Dying Children.

- Job 2:6 Satan and evil spirits cannot kill.

- Acts 19:16 & Job 1:13-22 But they can motivate people to choose to kill each other.

- Matthew 4:1-11 He can also motivate you to sin, in which you will reach the second death.

o Why is there brutal death?

- Some cruel deaths are punishment for sin: Deuteronomy 21:18-21, Genesis 7:4, Ezekiel 16:49 & Genesis 19:24.

- Other dead are from the devil by sin: Deuteronomy 27:25, Judges 19:25, 29 & John 19:18.

- The Lord Almighty will repay everything: Romans 13:10, Psalm 147:3, & Romans 12:19.

o Can we raise someone from the dead?

- John 11:11-13, 23, 27 & 40-43.

- When we believe, and are saved, and if it will serve as a sign of God's greatness, and not when we only want to do it for ourselves, we have the power in Matthew 10:8!

o Is it safe to take a chance and not believe in God?

- Your life, your choice. Above all, we know God exists. He doesn't have to prove Himself. The universe shouts the glory of our Creator! But imagine for a moment... Just think about this: i. Let's say for a moment there is no God. If there is no God, and you did NOT believe in God, then YOU as well as the CHRISTIANS are safe. Why? Because if God does not exist, there is no punishment on the Christian, and no punishment on you either!

139

C Viljoen

ii. BUT what if God does exist, and you don't believe in Him? Then the Christian alone is safe, while you are going to burn in hell. You see, if you are not a Christian, here you have a 50% chance of getting into trouble in hell, and the Christian has 100% safety.

iii. Go with God, Crispy!

o What do you do with the pain of someone else's death?

- This is a nice question. How do you deal with the pain of your friends and family dying around you? How do you get the heartstrings to play correctly again?

- All your friends and even all your enemies, and all your family, and everyone you love, who has already died today, all want you to ask yourself one very important question.

- And that question is: How would my

(mom/dad/boyfriend/brother/sister/son/daughter/other awesome loved one) want me to live my life, every day? And then you go do what your loved ones will honor! Every day! And remember that your day will come too!☺So don't waste time.

- Psalm 34:18.

o Why is there a second death?

- Revelation 21:27, Deuteronomy 30:3-13, Joel 2:25, Jeremiah 30:17 & 32:27, Isaiah 61:7, Job 42:10, Isaiah 1:18, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 6:14, 1 Peter 4:8, Psalm 103:5, Job 33:25, Acts 1:6, Daniel 9:25, Revelation 21:2, & James 1:15.

- Sin produces death. The second death. Jesus went to prepare a new Jerusalem for us. When He comes to get us, only those who are Christians will be allowed in heaven, because the light has no fellowship with the darkness, the second death is the eternal punishment.

o Extra verses to look up about our death: Hebrews 12:6, Leviticus 17:11, 1 John 1:5-7, Revelation 22:14-15, Proverbs 15:4, 3:13-18, 11:30, 13:12, Genesis 3:22-24, Proverbs 28:15, Isaiah 59:7, Matthew 27:52, John 8:44, 1 Thessalonians 4:14-16, & John 14:3.

Jesus was beaten with a whip. The Bible does not describe the whip. The cat-of-nine-tails whip described by many is something that has been adopted in history because it was used in ancient Roman history, and because it and the 40 (39) lashes were their usual way of scourging. One stroke away from death. In several other places in the Bible, the 39 blows of the Romans are described. The detail of what type of whip was used on Jesus is not physically in the Bible at all. Be careful and test the spirits that share extra detail with you. It's not going to mean the difference between heaven and hell if we accept that Jesus was beaten with one whip over another... But we must be selective about what we hear and from whom, because small detail can be big poison in the wrong hands. When in doubt, stick to what you can see and read letter by letter in the Bible itself.

LISTENING LESSON & CONVERSATION ON MARK 15

Do: Pop quiz 2 orally.

o Romans 4:25, 5:12, 18, 6:23, 10:9, Matthew 25:46, Revelation 20:14-15, & Mark 15.

o Refer to The Birth of Jesus and His Bloodline for more on the Marys at the tomb.

o v7 Is very important! “Go tell His disciples AND PETER! ” Why? Because Peter betrayed Him 3 times and probably did not feel worthy. One day we will find out why John 21!

Appearance of Jesus after His resurrection (v9-20):

o A few things we should be able to do every day:

- Romans 10:13 – ____________________ on the Name of the Lord to rescue you!

- 1 Peter 2:24 – ____________________ our sins and __________ for righteousness!

- Matthew 28:16-20 – We must __________ and __________ people.

- Mark 16:15-18 – We must spread the _________, _______ people, ________ devils, speak in _______, pray if we get poisoned so no ______ comes to us, and lay _______ on the sick.

- Acts 10:43 – ________ must be able to _________ on _________ of sins through _______!

- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – We should always be ________ and ________ and be _______!

- John 16:33 – We must remember that we will have ______________________ on earth!!!

The greatest miracle of Jesus was eternal life for us undeserving sinners John 3:16.

HOMEWORK – TO READ

The cloths neatly rolled up at Jesus' tomb, and about dreams and visions: o According to a story on the Internet: The Jews had handkerchiefs hanging from their linen hats. If a Jew was eating at a table and wanted to leave the table temporarily, he would roll up this cloth neatly and leave it on the table until he returned. It would be a symbol for a servant (waiter) who says: “Wait, I'm coming back.” If the Jew had finished, he would have left the cloth messed up on the table which would mean: “Clean the table, I'm done, I'm not coming back again.” Jesus folded His cloth and left it neatly in His grave. John 20:7. He may very well have said, “I'll be back.” Already from there. How amazing is that, to the one who notices?

o Everything has meaning, and we must wonder and pray about everything, because God predicted that we will dream dreams and see visions, and that it is God speaking to us Joel 2:28-32, Job 7:14, 33: 14-20 & Acts 2:17-21! EVERYTHING has a reason and a purpose and in EVERYTHING God speaks to us every day! How are your spiritual ears and eyes tuned?

Simon's name was changed to Céfas (Peter) as we learn Mark 1 (John 1:42-43): o Jesus made sure Peter was included after His resurrection, because he betrayed Jesus 3 times and must have thought that he was no longer good enough for Jesus.

o Although Peter had many faults like the rest of us Galatians 2:11-14, he was always the willing one Matthew 14:28-30!

o Jesus likes to use people who don't seem like the right person for the job Luke 5:10 & Acts 4:13.

o We can learn more about him in the Acts and in the books of 1 & 2 Peter. Peter later spent time with Mark 1 Peter 5:13 and Mark wrote his book according to the things that Peter could remember from his following of Jesus when He was still on earth.

Mark 16 was much shorter in the “original Bible”:

o There was a section of Mark that may not have been written by Mark, but was inserted later, but before we can learn about that we must first learn more about where the original texts of the Bible are kept.

o A manuscript is an old-fashioned scroll or document, such as the “Declaration of Independence”

which was written on pigskin many years ago.

o A codex is a manuscript that was written over in book form, like the individual books that together make up the Bible.

o A Bible is a “collection of books” that now makes one big new book because all its little books talk about the same things and fit together.

o There is more than one library that protects bible books. One of the largest, which protects the oldest books of the Bible era, is in Italy, in Rome. The full address of the library is:

- Vatican Apostolic Library (vat) – or Bibliotheca Apostolica Vaticana in Latin

- 00120 Vatican City

- 00120 Vatican City

- Vatican City

- Rome, Italy

o The library existed long before 1475 but was only formally “founded” or set up in 1475 as the library that will be protected like the president of America, because it has the oldest documents of our history. This library houses 75,000 historical codices, and 1.1 million printed books. The library 145

C Viljoen

does not allow you to enter, unless you can first prove exactly what your qualifications are, and the reasons why you want to do research there. You can ask that they send you copies by email of specific pages in books that were written as far back as 1801. The library also has a separate section called the “Vatican Secret Archives”, and it has about 150,000 extra items belonging to the popes of that time. The word “Secret” usually meant “secret” in this name, until 1881, but is now open to qualified researchers and the word “Secret” now means almost the same as the “Secret Service” of the President of America, which ' is a very special and protected type of VIP item. Some of the documents in the Secret Archives are the old popes' writings or personal documents, and there are also certain secret state documents that are kept only for specific eyes in the world's governments.

It also holds the total laws of the Roman Catholic “Government” which belong to the Catholics precisely because they own the Holy Sea (Sea of Rome), which physically belongs to the popes (the Vatican-head). So, the popes can be seen as the president of the total Roman Catholic existence throughout the entire world, and he “they” own the Holy Sea and are a government on their own.

Their library also has books from the medieval period that were written with many decorations and pictures, such as the book that is read by Merlin in the movie “The Sword in the Stone”. The name of these books is called “Illuminated Manuscripts”. There is a lot of amazing stuff to learn about this library and its early days if you want to research it further.

o Unfortunately, the original Bible books no longer exist. The original Bible never existed either.

There was never a Bible in Bible times. People of Bible times wrote many books (scrolls) in the time of God and of Jesus (we are in the time of the Holy Spirit), and the original books or scrolls were written over thousands of years and copies of written and old ones lost, stolen, burned, lost in floods and wars, etc. from before the time of Babylon, to this day. If there are lies in our old translation Bible today, the one who wrote the lies will receive the punishment, not you, so you can stop stressing about the accuracy of the Bible. God said He would protect the original Word Psalm 12:7-8.

o And it's also important to remember to always use an old-fashioned dictionary when reading an old Bible, because many words have changed meaning:

- Gay was always “happy” - Now it means homosexuality.

- Cool was always “not hot” - Now it means popular!

o The Bible has 66 books that were written together over a period of roughly 1500 years. 39 books in the Old Testament, and 27 in the New Testament. It WAS NOT given by men, but the total works were given by God, and written by men 2 Timothy 3:16.

- The Old Testament (the Bible of the Jews) has 3 parts. It's “The Pentateuch” (laws) or the first 5 books of Moses, then “The Prophets” and that's all the books that the prophets wrote, and then “The Scriptures” which are other written works such as the Psalms, Proverbs, and the other books of the Old Testament.

o It's easy to follow... Moses wrote the laws Exodus 17:14, Numbers 33:2, Joshua 1:8, Matthew 19:8 & John 5:46-47. The books were in the ark Deuteronomy 31:24-26. In the time of David and Solomon, all the books that had been written so far were moved to the temple 1 Kings 8:6. Other books were written and brought together such as Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Hosea and Micah Proverbs 25:1. The Jews were thrown out of Israel when Babylon took over, and this caused the books of the Bible to be scattered. But when the Jews' exile was over, Ezra gathered the books again and made a copy of them for the ark that was to be in the second temple. These books together are called the Hebrew Bible. In the third century before Christ, these 146

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

books were translated into the Greek language by 70 Jewish scholars. In AD 1947, the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in Qumran, 20 miles east of Jerusalem on the north-west shore of the Dead Sea, in Israel. A boy who had to look after goats followed a goat that got lost from the group, then he threw a stone into a cave he came across by the sea, and when he heard something break, he went to look, and this later led to the search and finding of 11 more caves and many tens of thousands of ceramic pots full of leather and papyrus scrolls which were copies of the original texts, and there were also many books written by people who wrote the original have researched texts. These scrolls or biblical copies of the Old Testament are well over 2000 years old today and they still have the same information as our modern Bible today, which was translated and written from scrolls that were much older than the Dead Sea Scrolls, so the Dead Sea Scrolls are evidence that our old translation Bible was not changed with time. We even know that the Old Testament must have exactly 39 books from Jesus' own mouth, in Luke 11:49-51. Abel was dead in Genesis, and Zechariah was dead in 2 Chronicles, and those are the first and last books of the Old Testament. WOW!

- The New Testament also has three parts, and Christians believe in both the old and new testaments. The three parts are first “The Gospel” (good news) of Jesus, then “The Church History” which is only the Acts, and then “The Apostolic Scriptures” which are all the other books of the New Testament.

o According to our history, the first New Testament collection was put together by a guy (Marcoin is his name) who believed in putting only all the books in the group that talk about Jesus as God and left out everything that talks about Jesus as just a man. Then someone put the New Testament books together differently, by putting together the gospel, and Acts, and 13 of Paul's letters, and 1-, 2-, 3- John, Jude, and Revelation. Then came the final New Testament that we know, which was put together by a church man named Athanasius in AD 367 and it was by the “Council of Carthage” the final New Testament was made in AD 397. Later it was found out that this final grouping of the New Testament was completely correct from the beginning, because the New Testament books are all inspired and equal to the Old Testament books. For example: Look at 1 Timothy 5:18 & Luke 10:7. Paul basically said here that Luke's writings are part of “The Scriptures”! And the Old Testament speaks of this same thing in Deuteronomy 25:4! So, we know that Paul went to read the Old Testament scriptures in the temple, and that the New Testament agrees with the Old Testament through this! There are many examples. Peter also spoke at that time already, of people who twist the Bible (the group of scrolls in the temple) just as they twist Paul's writings, and this will mean their evil 2 Peter 3:15-16, so Peter basically said that Paul's writings form part of “The Scriptures”, because he took all his work from the Old Testament! Almost all the priests of our history around 2000 years ago, wrote so many books of their own and quoted texts and preached sermons from the Old Testament whose verses are today in the New Testament, that roughly only 27

verses are still not included. Before the New Testament was put together, people preached all this, from the 27 books we know today. There are about 5,300 Greek, 10,000 Latin, and 9,000 mixed copies of the New Testament that have been found today over the years, and ALL OF THEM THAT HAVE BEEN FOUND ARE VERBATIM!!!

147

C Viljoen

THIS MEANS THEY ALL HAVE THE EXACT SAME WORD-FOR-WORD CONTENT! This means that the New Testament has not changed at all for the entire 2000 years, like the Old Testament. We know that the Old Testament is true because the people in the New Testament quoted many words from the Old Testament.

o The word has never changed, as evidenced by endless old original scrolls, and this is established by the books and research written by millions of people of that time, who wrote about the Bible. Our only problem is the thousands of NEW TRANSLATIONS being written, twisting the original scriptures. We must stick to the 1933/53 translation of the Bible in Afrikaans, or the original King James Version in English. These are the two most accurate scriptures, and you can learn more about them from the old sermons on the Panorama of Prophecy CD!

o However, many parts of the Bible we have, it doesn't matter. Whether you have one book in the Bible, or all 66, it tells the same story of the same God, and we believe in the one living God who is creator of Heaven and Earth! With the technology of today, and the large amount of people who are trying to prove the Bible false, we should hesitate before we believe at all in new books that are discovered by scientists. Maybe it's extra books, but maybe not. Maybe someone faked it and wrote it themselves. If 66 books were enough to send 6000 years of people to heaven, they are enough for us too, and we already know they are all accurate enough! One day in heaven we will see and be able to learn the true original texts.

o For fun, have you ever wondered:

- Why do you never see Buddhists preaching on TV for the salvation of the whole world?

- Why do the Muslims/Hindus/Polytheists/UFOs/etc. not persuade us to their faith?

- Why is it only the living God (Jews, Catholics, Christians, etc.) who preaches on TV and radio for our salvation?

- Why don't the atheists or the evolutionists try to attack other religions?

- Why is it always only the Christian God who is attacked to prove it false?

- Why do American money and oldest Scrolls have biblical verses and messages on them?

- All those who have no faith (the atheists and evolutionists) who preach on TV that the earth is millions and billions of years old only came after Charles Darwin wrote a book in 1859

saying that the Bible is false, and that the world has grown through evolution. His book is called “Origin of Species”, and it says that NOTHING exploded, and made EVERYTHING. Lol…

☺ in 1859!!! Less than 200 years ago… And suddenly everyone is an atheist! Before that everyone had the simple faith in God, and here one guy just writes one book that LIES and says the Bible is fake, and suddenly you have murderers who want to exterminate everyone who believes in God. How do you explain that? The Bible is WAY older than Darwin's book.

Why does everyone believe Darwin? Are the people too fond of sin, and too afraid to face the true punishment of the Bible?

- A boy named Eric Harris asked a 17-year-old girl named Cassie Bernall if she believed in God and shot her dead in the head in her school class! Could this have happened if he hadn't read Charles Darwin's book?

- Why is the greatest faith in the world, the Christians, with more than 2.1 BIL-LION believers?

Don't even start counting the Jews (our friends)! There are only 7.9 billion people on the entire earth today.

- Why is the very OLDEST faith in the whole world the Jewish faith? The Christians started 2000 years ago... The Jews are more than 4000 before that Genesis 1:1!

148

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

- Why does the world ONLY protect the scriptures that form part of the Jewish and Christian faith? Where is the library that protected the other faiths?

- The atheists and evolutionists were proven 100% false by Dr. Kent Hovind and many others, and although a Christian can NOT prove that God exists, an atheist cannot prove that God does NOT exist! It's BOTH A FAITH! So, when the atheists say they have no faith, THEY ARE

LYING, because they have no evidence that there is no God. It's also a belief! Because NO

ONE KNOWS! But what if God did stand now, and the atheists die? They will be syringe.

- Why do people hate the Bible so much? It's just a book that teaches you how to deal with others around you with love and forgiveness and with edification. To act with honor. People may hate it because it prevents you from smoking, or drinking, or having premarital sex, or because it prevents you from committing murder, or stealing, etc. The fact that people hate it DOESN'T MAKE THE WORD FALSE! Good luck to them!

- How is it that a group of teenagers can pick up a teacher's car and put it in another place, but a group of strong men of the old days cannot lift a 2.2-ton stone to build the pyramids or temples with not?

- Think for YOURSELF and stop blindly following people's opinions. Even if someone comes up with stories that have evidence... CHECK if the evidence is true! Find out for yourself! Be awake in this deceptive age of ours!

o BACK TO THE SUBJECT OF MARK: According to the oldest manuscripts (copies) that still exist today in the Vatican Library, with the names (Codex Sinaiticus) and (Codex Vaticanus), Mark 16 only had the first 8 verses, so Mark 16:1-8 was the entire last chapter. One of these two ancient books was found on Mount Sinai, while the other was found in the library when it was formally founded, and no one knows how long it has been lying there. Maybe Markus was dead before he finished writing, or maybe the texts were just gone. Is it possible that Markus just wanted to leave the end of his book like that? Verses 9-20 may have been added later by “scribes”, although no one is sure, because:

1. The oldest original writings have only 8 verses.

2. The change of subject between verses 8 & 9 is too abrupt. Verse 9 is just suddenly the next day; the story does not change gradually.

3. Mark introduced Mary Magdalene in v9 as if it was the first time he spoke of her, but in reality he spoke of her 3 times already, in Mark 15:40, 47, & 16:1.

4. In the extra 11 verses in Mark 16 we find about 18 words that he never uses in his other chapters, so it sounds like a different person who has a whole different vocabulary.

5. In v19 Markus says “...the Lord...” which he never does in another place. Mark always calls Jesus by His name, whether he says “He” or “Him”, but never “Lord”, until now.

6. The signs that will follow in v17-18 are not mentioned at all in the other 3 gospels. Only Markus talks about it.

7. Mark always ends his stories with surprise: Mark 1:22, 27, 2:12, 4:41, 5:15, 33, 42, 6:51, 9:6, 15, 32, 10:24, 32, 11 :18, 12:17, & 16:5. It would make sense that Mark had fully planned to end his last chapter in verse 8 with the astonishment of the women at the tomb, but quite possibly a learned writer thought that Mark should also end like the other gospels, which all end like Revelation 22:21!

o It does not matter if these 11 extra verses were added or not, because this is NOT NEW

information. Every verse that is extra in Mark 16, are quotes from other parts of the Bible, so 149

C Viljoen

basically nothing has been added or taken away. Here is the list of verses in Mark 16 quoted from other places in the Bible (and there are more):

Possible contradiction:

o Read Matthew 28:9, Luke 24:37-40 & John 20:17. One verse says that no one should touch Jesus directly after His resurrection, but in another verse Jesus Himself tells the people to touch Him. One verse tells how they grabbed Jesus' feet... This is not a contradiction, because Luke 8:42-47.

The only way to overcome temptations:

o Matthew 17:21 & 26:41.

Check this out:

o Mark 16:1-2 describes how the women came to the tomb very early, just after sunrise, to embalm Jesus. Already at this moment, on the 1st day of the week, Jesus was no longer here. For interest: IF

Jesus rose “at the 1st hour” of the Jewish Sabbath day (day 3), that means He was dead exactly 39

hours (39 beats)!

o Romans 5:18 Jesus certainly paid for all sin, including Original Sin (Adam and Eve's first sin).

LISTENING LESSON & CONVERSATION ON MARK 16

Do: Pop quiz 3 orally.

PRACTICAL LESSON TO MARK 16

GET READY TO BE A CHRISTIAN

After this series, can you really say for the first time that you know Jesus? It's one thing to know what He did, but of course it's a whole other matter to be able to say we know Him.

Think about it this way: You may know Joyce Meyer or Avril Lavigne or the Barefoot Contessa or Barack Obama so well that you know what goes on in their personal lives... But do they know you? And even though you may know everything about their lives because they talk about it on TV, if anyone asks you if you know them, your best answer is going to have to be:

“Well, I know this guy or woman well, but not at all personally.”

Likewise, it is one thing to know Jesus, but quite another matter to know Him PERSONALLY. And He must also know you personally if you are going to know Him personally. Jesus must become your personal Savior Luke 1:47 & 2 Peter 2:20! How do you do it?

In this last practical lesson, we are going to learn again how to accept Jesus so that we can teach others too, and we are going to learn the creed and recite what we believe in, and we are going to pray for the blessings of God on us, to use us for His will.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Now read through the next 4 pages.

2. Say the prayers out loud together and try to mean every word from your heart!

3. Enjoy it!

THE APOSTOLIC CREED

This creed was not directly written like that in the Bible. It was written about 150 years after all the original apostles had died, and it is a good summary of the Christian faith, although there are 2 points in the original apostolic creed that should not be misunderstood. It is supposed to be a record of what the apostles taught the people, but whoever wrote it after the apostles died committed these two possible errors:

1. The passage that says Jesus descended into hell must be understood correctly:

- Jesus DID NOT go to hell to be punished because He took our sins on His shoulders, as we learned earlier in the series. He went to hell to preach the gospel to the dead so that everyone has an equal chance to go to heaven through the adoption of Jesus. See Mark 15 for more.

2. The original apostles creed or creed says that the apostles “Believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Roman Catholic church”. It must also be understood correctly:

- It is NOT TALKING about the Roman Catholic church as we know it today. The word

“catholic” means “universal”. So, when this creed was written, this passage literally meant that the apostles believed in “the Holy Spirit, therefore ALL the holy churches that believe that Jesus is their Savior.”

This creed is important because God tells us that at ANY time, we must be ready to be able to explain what our faith is, and why we believe it, in 1 Peter 3:15. Read 1 Peter 3:8-22 for more about the creed. Let's say the creed in the right way, as the Bible preaches it to the Christian: THE CHRISTIAN CREED OR CONFESSION OF FAITH

I believe in God the Father, the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord; the only way to God the Father, which was received from the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary; who suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, and descended into hell for the salvation of the dead saints. I believe that He rose again from the dead on the third day; and that He ascended to heaven and now sits at the right hand of God, the almighty Father, whence He will soon come again to judge the living and the dead. My Savior.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the two-edged sword and living word of God, which is sharper than any other sword, the holy, universal, Christian church, and the communion of saints.

I believe in the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and eternal life.

Amen.

I'm proudly Pentecostal, happy-clappy!!!

The Jesus Series - Student Guide

MAKE SURE YOU GO TO HEAVEN

You can use these pages to share the gospel (the good news) with others!

This is your job! Learn it well!

PUNISH THE EVIL ABOUT YOU, BREAK THE BOND OF HISTORY

You can accept Jesus right away if you want, but it is better to first make sure that the house in your heart is clean before you let Jesus in. Ask Jesus to deliver you from evil. Read Matthew 6:9-13 and pray: Father, I want to accept You! Please hear my prayer! I need your help! Keep evil from me. Deliver me from all evil! If I am possessed by an evil spirit, please deliver me. If there is a curse on me, or evil ties from ancestors, please deliver me. I plead the blood of Jesus over me, and I ask for the Holy Spirit to come into my heart and surround me and keep me safe for every moment! I pray this in the name of the Father God, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in the name of the Son Jesus Christ, who was on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead, and in the name of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God which is sharper than any other sword. Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus! Amen!

ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR PERSONAL SATISFACTION MAKER

There is only one way to be sure you will go to heaven. You must accept Jesus as your personal Savior.

Good works cannot save you. It can only keep you saved because faith without works is dead! Jesus is the only way to heaven! All have sinned. Have you ever lied, or stolen, or hated one of your fellowmen? Read

Romans 3:23, 10:9-10, & John 3:5. Let's pray together: Jesus, I am a sinner who deserves to go to hell. But I believe that You are the only Lord. I believe that You died for my sins and rose from the dead. Please forgive my sins. Wash me clean with Your blood. Make me a new person. Make me Your child. Use me for Your will. Come live forever in my heart. I belong to You now. I will live for You every day. Thank you, Lord! Hallelujah! Amen!

GET BAPTIZED

God said we should accept Jesus, and believe that Jesus is God, and let us be baptized, AND do good works for him, and pray and fast constantly, and-and-and! Let any serious Christian who has been baptized baptize you. Not someone who was just blessed as a baby, but someone who underwent a real adult-baptism. Go into the water with the person, and it is preferably better that other people see your baptism, who can hold you responsible for your actions, because the baptism is a “public act to witness”, but you can be baptized by only one person too. It symbolically brings you into Jesus' grave with Him, and you also rise from the dead with Him! You die off your sins and old life in the water Mark 16:16, Ephesians 4:4-6, & Romans 6:4.

The person who baptizes you must help you under the water and say: I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and in the Name of the Son Jesus, and in the Name of the Holy Spirit. Amen!

One dip or three dips doesn't matter. Don't major in the minor things!

155

HOLD SUPPER

Call your family and friends and have communion regularly. See Mark 14 for more. Read Mark 14:12-26.

Break the bread, thank God for it, and give it to everyone to eat with yourself. Tell everyone: “This is the body of Jesus, broken for our sins, for the healing of our bodies.” Then take the wine, thank God for it, and give it to all to drink with yourself. Tell everyone: “This is the blood of Jesus, shed for our sins to save our lives, so that we can enter into the new covenant with Jesus!” Amen!

PRAY THE PRAYER OF SONGS & ANOINT YOURSELF

Take olive oil or anointing oil and anoint your face. Pray the blessings of Matthew 5:1-12 & Numbers 6:24-26 over yourself.

Father God, I pray now in the name of Jesus!

I am poor in spirit. Help my lack of faith. Let me enter your kingdom one day.

I'm grieving Please comfort my heart. Wipe away my tears forever.

I am meek. Help me to become a bold leader. Let me rule the earth with you.

I hunger and thirst for justice. Let me taste the water and fruit of eternal life.

I am gracious, charitable, loving, and merciful. Please forgive my sins. Have mercy on me.

I am pure of heart through Your forgiveness! Let me see You face to face one day.

I am a peacemaker. I love peace. Please call me Your child. Bring peace to Israel.

I am persecuted when I stand up for what is right. Let me one day inherit Your righteous kingdom.

I am accused, insulted, and persecuted if I testify to You. Please give me a great reward in Your kingdom.

Father God, bless, protect, and preserve me. Let Your face shine upon me. Have mercy on me! Lift up Your face toward me and give me peace. In Jesus' Name!

I pray now for myself, and for all my family and all my friends, and for all my enemies, and I pray for all who need You. I plead the blood of Jesus over us all, and I forgive all my enemies, and I will forget what they have done and treat them with respect and honor, because they too are just people like me, and because I want You to do the same must do to me too. It's hard, but I'm trying. Please help me. Help us all. Give us strength. Please bless, heal, strengthen, and protect us all, keep evil from us, let us find Your kingdom.

Never leave us alone. Use us for Your will! Hallelujah! Amen!

LEARN THE WORD OF GOD EVERY DAY AND SAVE SOULS FOR CHRIST

Start learning the New Testament from an old translation Christian Bible and spread this same news just as it was freely given to you! Talk to everyone about God, always! Don't forget to also learn the Old Testament but do it AFTER you have learned the New Testament. First learn about your own covenant that you entered with Jesus before you can learn about the previous covenant. Hebrews 8:13 ☺

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF CHRIST

You can NOT lose your salvation when you sin! If you repent and ask for forgiveness. So don't let the devil lie to you. ALWAYS PRAY! Work hard while you are promised to be persecuted on earth! John 8:44, 16:33, 1 John 1:9, & 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

Let everyone take a glass of water and do Mark 9:41.
