He landed softly beside the tamarin, who handed him a ticket stub. "Good for one return visit," it read. "Redeemable only in dreams."
Then, as dreams do, it began to unravel. The animals faded into chalk outlines. The colors drained into sepia. His parents walked ahead, growing taller, older, distant. He tried to call out, but his voice was a bubble that popped before it reached them.
He woke with the taste of grape soda on his tongue and the faint scent of sawdust in the air. The dream lingered; not as memory, but as myth. A private zoo of the soul, where wonder still paced behind glass, waiting to be remembered.
