too old and cool for that. What a jerk I was, and how I’d love to go back.
Downtown. ........ But, it’s all gone. The lights, the trees, the people, the friendly shop keepers, the sales girls with their own registers in the five and tens, the little dog who ran loose and greeted everyone anywhere near his store that sold models of cars and airplanes, and Mom and Dad.
Gone.
The little Christmas tree in the window flickers this all back, and it is good; demonstrating a comeback; a second chance; more real than the declining malls; the memories more real than the passage of destructive time.
Now and forever.
