lights all over. He sits near a tall glass window where all the neighbors can see him waving to them and wishing them a “Merry Christmas.”
I really miss my Mom and Dad. It’s been such a long time. So much water has passed under the bridge since I last saw them. My mother used to say; “Youth is wasted on the young.” She was so right.
Sad old man? – I had this once; you didn’t.
Mere nostalgia? – Your jealousy is showing.
Downtown; the place where teenagers too young to drive or too poor to buy a car walked expecting to find something magical. And whether they knew it or not, they invariably did. ...... They had no idea until it was gone, never to return.
Everyone knew and greeted each other; some in groups, some solitary. The news was carried and conveyed in real time. We knew but we didn’t know. Oh look, there goes the high school bookkeeping teacher, babbling to his next client who, with “pro” guidance, opens a fish, tank, and food store.
