First Easter
A Child’s First Easter
In the gentle warmth of early spring, when daffodils nodded in the breeze and robins sang from budding trees, baby Leo was about to celebrate his very first Easter. He was ten months old, with a tuft of golden hair and a curious gaze that seemed to absorb every color and sound around him.
His parents, Nora and Sam, had always loved Easter; the pastel decorations, the scent of fresh grass, the joy of renewal. But this year, with Leo in their arms, the holiday took on a new kind of magic.
On Easter morning, sunlight streamed through the windows as Nora dressed Leo in a soft cotton romper patterned with tiny bunnies. Outside, the garden had been transformed overnight. There were plastic eggs nestled in flower beds, plush chicks perched on branches, and a trail of jelly beans leading to a wicker basket.
Leo didn’t understand the concept of an egg hunt, but he was delighted by the colors. He crawled toward a bright blue egg, picked it up, and promptly tried to eat it. Sam laughed and swapped it for a teething ring shaped like a carrot.
