So Charlie did what Null never dared; he stepped into the dream.
He found himself beside the woman, who turned to him and said; "I don't know how to finish this."
Charlie looked at the bridge, then at the river, then at her. "Maybe it's not about finishing," he said. "Maybe it's about continuing."
She nodded, and together they began to build; not forward, but sideways, a bridge that curved, looped, and occasionally doubled back. A bridge that allowed detours, pauses, and scenic overlooks. A bridge that didn't promise arrival, but honored the journey.
When Charlie returned to the Bureau, he found Null waiting, translucent and footnoted as ever.
"You stepped into a dream," Null said, voice echoing like a citation.
"I did," Charlie replied.
Null handed him a new stamp. It read: "In Progress (and Proud)."
