When he saw the people who were there, he wanted to get back to Grand Central more than ever, though he didn’t know the way. To his left was a group of feral “teens” encouraged by the liberal authorities to do whatever they wanted; no crimes prosecuted or punished. He thought that he must have gone the wrong way and was in the Bronx. One “teen” broke away from the group, pushed a button which activated the rotating and whirring electric blade on his ankle. The dreamer feared for the amputation of his bare feet. The “teen” demanded the dreamer’s wallet, but the dreamer was left with a dilemma. He could either save his bare feet or stand the ground he needed to stand to get home. He needed the money to buy the ticket home if he ever got back to Grand Central. He was in luck. The “teen’s” rotating electric blade turned inward cutting off his own feet. As he lay on the ground in agony, his group came over and used the opportunity to take his gold chains.
Happy, the dreamer woke up. In bed. Home. The dream ended not with resolution, but with arrival. Not with clarity, but with the comfort of sheets and the hum of morning.
The first thing he did was to roll down the blankets and check his feet. “Wheeew!” he sighed in relief when he saw that they were still there, more or less. The fallen, inelastic sock on
