Setting: Mahogany table, designer notebooks, espresso shots lined up like ammunition.
Tara: "We should pitch it as disrupting traditional pipelines. Investors love that buzzword."
Jolene: "Disruption ... right. Is it disruption if it only displaces people without replacing the rot?"
Tara: "Sorry, what?"
Jolene: "Just wondering how far we can stretch language before it snaps." She flips a page in her notebook and writes nothing, just watches.
Scene: After Hours Call
Setting: Jolene, barefoot in her apartment, pacing. A dim lamp, a half glass of red. She's on speakerphone with Alec, her business partner, who's calling from his family's vineyard in Tuscany.
Alec: "You always sound a little ... I don't know. Distant."
Jolene, quietly: "I don't have your altitude, Alec. Hard to see the view from this end."
Alec: "Come on, it's not like I haven't worked hard."
