Martin was coming over for dinner and unusually for during the week was staying for the whole night.
Jane ordered in take away from one of Martin's favourite restaurants and lit candles in the dining room, placing wine glasses and napkins just so as Zac had told her how to do.
“Hello Darling I am looking forward to spending the evening and night with you” giving Jane a passionate kiss.
Jane was well aware Martin didn't care that she did not do the cooking. After all he had made it clear his Wife was no master chef in the kitchen either.
On saying that though she still liked to set the dining table and dish up the takeaway on beautiful plates, thinking at least she had gone to some effort.
Over dinner Jane gushed about how much Ali was progressing.
“She is already crawling, her chubby little arms and legs taking her in all directions, it is so funny to watch.”
A little perturbed Martin said “Well Sweetheart you are spending a lot of time with her but take a look at the full picture, if you are feeling a little clucky it won't be of any benefit to you.”
Jane ignored his statement saying “Clucky, absoloutley not, I just love being around her, after all she is my Niece.”
Martin put a forced smile on to his face and said to Jane “Well in a manner of speaking she is related to you. However, she is probably a lot further down the family tree than the one you are looking at. After all Zac's your half brother, his child was born to some unknown quantity and from my perspective that makes her a very distant relative.”
With that Jane did a Summer and told Martin to fuck off feeling gratified she had done so when he left.
Over coffee two days later Jane told Summer and Madge about the conversation she had with Martin.
“I mean I have never told him to fuck off before but I just didn't like where our conversation was going and I didn't want him to be around me for another second. Now I don't know where we stand.”
“Well personally I am proud of you. After all this time together you managed to grab the bull by the horns so to speak and say enough is enough, I am not listening to your bullshit. Nothing bad can come out of that Jane because honesty at the end of the day is all that matters” said Summer.
“Besides” added Madge “he will probably turn up sooner than later with his tail between his legs.”
“That's the thing” said Jane looking pensive “I am not sure that I want him to.”
Summer and Madge gave each other knowing looks.
