CHAPTER 3: Little Things Make Big Light

Zion sat on the front steps of his house. He watched cars drive by. He watched kids play down the street.
He felt small.
Zion wanted to help people. He wanted to make the world better. But he didn’t know how.
“I’m just one kid,” Zion said to himself. “What can I do?” That night, Zion looked at the Moon. It was big and bright. The stars twinkled all around it.
Suddenly, soft silver light filled his room. It wrapped around him like a hug.
Zion floated up, up, up… to the Moon.
When he landed, Mr. Peters was waiting for him. He smiled and held out his hand.
“Hello, Zion,” Mr. Peters said. “Come with me.”
They walked across the Moon. It glowed under their feet.
“You look worried,” Mr. Peters said.
“I am,” Zion said. “I want to make the world better. But I’m just one person. I’m too small to help.”
Mr. Peters chuckled. “Oh, Zion… little things can make big light.”
Zion looked up. The stars above them twinkled brightly.
“See those stars?” Mr. Peters asked. “Each one looks small. But together, they light up the sky.”
Zion smiled a little.
“Kind words. Helping someone. Sharing what you have,” Mr. Peters said. “Those small things? They grow. They shine.”
Zion looked around. Little lights floated all over the Moon. Some were small. Some were big. But they all glowed. “Every time someone is kind,” Mr. Peters explained, “the Moon gets brighter.”
Zion’s eyes got wide. “Really?”
“Really,” Mr. Peters said. “You don’t have to be the biggest or the loudest to make a difference.”
The soft light wrapped around Zion again.
“Go shine your light,” Mr. Peters said. “The world needs it.”
The next day, Zion held the door for his teacher. He helped his little sister with her backpack. He smiled at the new kid in class.
They were small things. But Zion knew… small things make a big light.
