CHAPTER 7: Dream Big, Start Small

Darius sat on his porch, looking at the stars. He loved dreaming about being a scientist.

One day, he wanted to invent something cool. Maybe flying cars. Or robot helpers. Or a rocket to Mars.

But the dream felt so big.

“How can one kid like me do all that?” Darius sighed. The stars twinkled. The Moon glowed.

Suddenly, soft silver light wrapped around him like a blanket.

Darius floated up, up, up… to the Moon.

When he landed, Mr. Peters stood there smiling.

“Hello, Darius,” Mr. Peters said kindly. “I heard you have big dreams.”

Darius nodded. “I want to be a great scientist,” he said. “But it feels too big.”

Mr. Peters chuckled. “Dreaming big is good,” he said. “But big dreams start with small steps.”

Darius tilted his head. “What do you mean?”

Mr. Peters pointed to the stars. “Each of those stars started as a tiny spark,” he said. “It grew and grew until it lit up the sky.”

Darius looked around. The Moon itself started small once, too.

“Your dream can grow,” Mr. Peters explained. “Start small. Keep going. Never give up.”

Darius smiled wide.

The soft silver light wrapped around him again.

“Start with one small step,” Mr. Peters whispered. “Big dreams live inside you.”

The light carried Darius back home.

The next day, Darius read a science book. He built a little rocket from paper. It wasn’t Mars yet, but it was a start.

Small steps. Big dreams.

Affirmation:

“I dream big. I start small. I never give up.”

“My dreams can grow. I start with small steps.”

Activity:

Think of a big dream you have (maybe being an artist, doctor, scientist). Write down one small thing you can do this week to start.
