BELLA, A GENTLE LIGHT BELLA, A GENTLE LIGHT
She’s getting older now,
and once had a brother,
but he passed a few years back,
a presence now only in memory
Her nature is good,
never lashing out at anyone.
She is as gentle
as a falling feather
in the morning dusk.
Nothing can stop the
love she has for us.
She sleeps most of the time anyway,
as if in endless hibernation.
She is a great cat;
we love her so very much.
Her meow can be heard clearly,
like a gentle cry.
She purrs, a soft and steady hum,
grateful for the love we give her.
She heals us with her boundless affection,
like an angel of light from the divine.
Her coat, a soft dark-grey,
marked with white—
a beauty in the eyes of the Lord,
like mountain dew resting on a hilltop.
She is a gift,
irreplaceable in our hearts.
A one-of-a-kind creation,
forever remaining with us.
Her name is Bella—I gave
her that name.
She will always,
even after she’s gone,
remain in our hearts like a summer star.
