THE EIGHT OF PENTACLES

“The Lord of Prudence”

Sun in Virgo

DESCRIPTION AND SYMBOLISM

A young artisan sits on a sturdy wooden bench and is hard at work carving out eight pentacles, six of which are attached to a nearby post and hang prominently on display. He is completely absorbed in his work and is concentrating all of his energy on the task at hand. He has chosen to work alone and on the outskirts of town for he has come to that point in life where he has to look after his own interests and build up the assets he will need to sustain his life.

ASTROLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

The self conscious Spirit expresses itself in the power of the Sun in Virgo, the sign of material harvest, where we gather the fruits of a long and diligent labor and learn the need for caution and prudence in our daily affairs. When we learn to be good managers of that which is entrusted to us and how to exercise good judgment when dealing in the practical affairs of the world we develop the foresight necessary to secure our future.

ORACLES

When Appearing Upright in a Reading

Prudence, industriousness and hard work are the keys to your continuing and future success. Careful management of your material resources is important. Remember it is better to error on the side of caution. Make only conservative financial decisions at this time.

When Appearing Reversed in a Reading

You are wasting your talents or applying them to unproductive ends. You dislike hard work and lack the will and ambition necessary to achieve success. Vanity and selfishness are corrupting you and preventing you from seeing that a lack of industry has overtaken your life.

THE TREE OF LIFE

“The Sphere of Splendor”

The natural process of growth is facilitated by the wise and prudent application of the energies of our working life. Even though we sometimes become immersed in the splendor of material success, we cannot allow material concerns to cause us to become overly cautious or neglect our spiritual development.
