The spirits will not provide us with solutions to all our problems, because doing so will only rob us of our lessons in life.

The character of a person who crosses over remains the same. Thus, people retain their personalities even after shedding their physical forms. E.g. if a person was stubborn when he was ‘alive’ on this side, that character flaw does not disappear automatically upon entering the spiritual realm. That person still needs to put in the effort to rid his shortcoming.

Language is not a barrier in the spiritual realm and thus the spirits can communicate with mediums even if they were not multi-lingual during their former lives.

There is no fixed time as to when departed souls will start to communicate i.e. they may appear very soon after their ‘death’ or decades later. Time in our physical world does not equate that of the spiritual realm. On the other side, time is not linear. The concept of Past, Present and Future which is evident in our physical world seems to be replaced by just a moment called ‘Now’ in the spirit world.

Our physical deaths are not accidental and there is a higher reason for it.

A substantial number of readings relate to spirits wanting to seek forgiveness for what they did or failed to do. Regret is the most common theme and they earnestly want us to live life to the fullest, with great compassion and love for everyone in this world. In other words, when it is our time to go, we should not leave any unresolved matters behind.

Just as we need to learn as human beings, spirits too continue with their lessons on the other side, to facilitate their ascension to higher levels of consciousness.

Earth is by no means the only place where souls exist as the universe is infinitely larger than we could ever imagine. There are indeed many planes of existence which we are not privy to. (We only get glimpses of them during our astral travels which take place when we are dreaming.) Nevertheless our planet is considered one of the most challenging planets in the Universe. Many a times, we have been commended by the spirit world for being courageous enough to take on a human incarnation. In other words, there are still many spiritual beings who have not had an Earthly incarnation before.

Love is all there is. Spirits keep emphasizing the importance of unconditional love for all living beings because we are indeed part of One. With a heightened awareness, we will comprehend the saying, “All are part of One and One is made up of All.” The energy or essence of Love is the common denominator for all of us. It is also the life force that sustains us.

On one particularly quiet night, I was listening to the radio featuring a host who was a clairvoyant. During the session, the host got a caller who seemed extremely depressed and could be heard crying, during the conversation. Apparently, the caller had lost someone close to her recently and she was finding it hard to carry on. All of a sudden, the host cum medium picked up a message from the caller’s deceased loved one. It was simple, ironic but at the same time profound. It went something like this, “I am dead ...but I am still alive!” The message continued to the effect that since life goes on even in the hereafter, the grieving person too needed to move on with her life despite whatever pain she was feeling then.
I believe this healing message applies to all of us too. Even when the worst case scenario takes place in this world, i.e. death, it is not finality itself, because people’s consciousness does survive physical demise. In other words, we should learn to console ourselves in such a circumstance, and move along by casting aside grief. We owe it to our loving selves to pick up the pieces and start to live ... again! The separation with our beloved departed souls is only temporary as a future reunion is guaranteed. All of us will get to go “Home” one day but for now, our journey in this world must continue.

Spiritual People
It is undeniable that knowledge that we possess helps shape our character, as we generally act upon what we know. Thus, knowledge is akin to the ‘fuel’ of the mind. People who possess spiritual knowledge usually display the following tendencies:

They are more open-minded as they adopt an all-inclusive view in life, rather than a narrow minded stand. In short, they can be very accommodating people.

Their level of compassion is generally greater. Most of us know how to sympathize but these people would instead empathize with the less fortunate people.

They focus on the common good of teachings found in various religions of the world, instead of identifying the differences in practices of these faiths.

They view death not as a tragedy that is to be feared, but rather as liberation from human suffering.
|
|
- |
They understand that life is transitory i.e. nothing is permanent. As such, they do not seem to be bound by relationships or material desires.
|
|
- |
They believe that life on our planet is akin to studying in a big school, whereby there will be periods of studying and exams (i.e. hardship and suffering) and periods of recess (i.e. happiness and peace). They just seem to be able to go with the flow of life and accept its nature.

They love all people and are blind to the differences in race, nationality and gender.
|
|

They care for the environment as they understand that human beings and Mother Nature are meant to co-exist harmoniously.

The spiritual truths of life are knowledge that we should seek. Such knowledge clears our path of ignorance and helps us see life clearly, with regard to our relationships, purpose and nature. It is the golden bridge to our eternal Divine Selves.

2012 & The Future
According to doomsday prophets, the world as we all know it is supposed to come to an end in the year 2012. Even a Hollywood studio has jumped in on the bandwagon to produce the hit movie of the same title. All this frenzy over the so-called Mayan calendar! But as with all calendars, they merely represent a cycle. For example, the 31st of December, simply means the last day of Earth's rotation around the Sun. Beyond that date, a new cycle begins and a new calendar ensues. And this is very similar to the meaning of 2012.
Year 2012 marks the end of a cycle which involves Earth and many more planets of our Milky Way. Thus, 2012 heralds the end of an old era and the dawn of a new one. It represents the end of one (approximately) 26,000-year astrological cycle. There is indeed a great significance to this new era, and many of our present day psychics, mediums, spiritual gurus, astrologers agree to the following sentiments:
- It is a fantastic opportunity for the
growth of the Soul.
- It is a rare opportunity for us to witness and contribute to the emergence of a new age.
- It is not the end of humanity but a time of re-birth, spiritually.
- It is an awakening to a new consciousness.
The stages leading the world to this new reality are many and humanity has lived through a multitude of changes over the years to see itself heading towards this new path. These changes have been gradual but if one were well versed in world events, one would have noted the following significant events that took place in the last two decades.

A colored person, Obama assuming the United States of America’s Presidential post.

The fall of many corporations and governments steeped in greed, corruption, domination, cronyism e.g. the fall of LDP, the ruling party of Japan for over 50 years and the collapse of the Enron corporation.

Emergence of female leaders. (E.g. For the first time in history, females assumed the top post of several countries i.e. a female assumed the post of Prime Minister in Australia in 2010. Subsequently in 2011, a lady took the top position as President of Brazil while another female became the Prime Minister of Thailand.) Males are also becoming more in touch with their feminine side as denoted by the emergence of terms like ‘metrosexual’. Also there is a growing acceptance of both groups of gays and lesbians around the world.

Energy saving concept hybrid vehicles becoming actual production models, the increasing number of environment friendly consumer products in the market and a great shift towards recycling.

New focus in entertainment media [e.g. appearance of movies like ‘Paranormal Activity’, hit TV series like ‘Medium’ (based on a real life medium Allison Dubois) and ‘Ghost Whisperer’ (whose executive producer, James Van Praagh is also a medium).

vi) |
Rising interest in yoga, meditation, crystals and alternative healing modalities (e.g. acupressure or Emotional Freedom Technique).

Indeed the shift in human consciousness has already begun and the aforementioned occurrences are representing the following new life themes that will become the norm throughout the world.

A person will no longer be judged by his skin color. Discrimination along racial lines will be frowned upon.
|

ii) |
The silent majority will rise and demand changes or reforms. (The key issue will be about “Integrity”.)
|

iii) |
The feminine and masculine energies will be balanced. The female gender will be recognized as equal to the male.
|
|
iv) |
Environmental issues will take priority as more people will respect and reconcile with Mother Earth or ‘Gaia’.
|
|
v) |
More people will awaken to their true nature i.e. spiritual beings as the veil separating the visible and invisible world is slowly being lifted.
|
|
vi) |
Interests in natural ways of healing will increase and create a new lifestyle with regard to physical, mental and emotional health. |
In essence, the new consciousness surrounding
2012 and beyond is anchored in the themes of unity, equality, integrity and
sustainability. Within this new climate, governments and corporations still surviving
on the old paradigm (old energy) of greed, domination and division will fall
apart.
In truth, this trend has been taking place all around the world since an event called the Harmonic Convergence took place in August 1987. The event was a massive synchronized global meditation for world peace and unity and its date tied in with Mayan cosmology and coincided with a unique planetary alignment. Those who are adept in Astrology will attest to the significance of that date.
Not long after the convergence, the supposedly unthinkable major events came into fruition, such as the following:
· The end of Iran-Iraq war.
· The end of Apartheid in South Africa.
· The fall of Berlin wall i.e. reunification of East and West Germany.
Perhaps the biggest shock was the end of the Cold War between the USSR and USA. The citizens of USSR ‘miraculously’ opted to peacefully part ways and this lead to the independence of many smaller nations. The breaking down of Soviet Union thus gave the government of USA no further reason to view them as a potential threat anymore. This was the largest testament to a new way of life on our planet. Had the Cold War erupted, it would have been catastrophic as the use of nuclear weapons would certainly have eliminated most, if not all of Earth’s population.
The Harmonic Convergence was the starting point of a period of massive change lasting for 25 years i.e. from 1987 to 2012. Since then, shifts (physical and non-physical) have taken place to facilitate the new paradigm for the Ascension of the planet and its inhabitants. (Note: See Part Two, “What is the meaning of ‘Ascension’?” for a more detailed explanation.) People who are sensitive to changes in the energy field of our environment have indeed felt physical and emotional sensations, as if their personal resonances have been altered.
Arguably the most significant movement in the world within the last two decades is the changing of governments. The prime example lies in year 2011 when people in the Middle East countries demonstrate the powerful shift in human awareness. Dictators over in those countries were forced to give up their coveted positions, by the masses who demanded a new way of governance based on equality and integrity. These revolutions are predicted to cause a domino effect on the rest of the world i.e. more similar changes will take place in other continents as well.
The emergence of Internet and websites such as Wikileaks are not merely coincidences. All these events are intertwined and pivotal to the general shift in human consciousness to the “positive”. In other words, these sources of information surfaced just at the right time to allow the masses effect a major change to the existing way of life, globally. For a very long time, human beings were living on the planet with very low vibrations. It was an age when most people felt they needed to be led be it in the field of religion, education or governance. In recent decades, more often than not the leaders had failed the very people who entrusted them the power and authority. Many people have realized this and thus a new wave of awareness is sweeping across the whole world. What we are witnessing in the 21st century is the rising power of the individuals.
In the new age of Aquarius, the key theme is self- empowerment. It is a period of time when the individuals reclaim their right to chart their future instead of relying on elected leaders to dictate their lives. This theme will continue to feature at many levels i.e. from the highest level of government right down to corporations, big and small. The old authoritative style will slowly make way for the new consultative approach. Spiritual teachers describe it as a time for the ascension of the soul. Massive reconciliations are continuously taking place everywhere. Undoubtedly it is a time when more people start to reconcile with others (regardless of their differences), Mother Nature and more importantly, their divinity.
It is indeed a beautiful time for rejuvenation, as the vibration of the Earth has been raised to a new plateau through the collective efforts of humankind. Year 2012 indeed does not signify the end of life on Earth, but instead a new beginning. It is truly the birth of a New Awakening!
