8 of Wands: Mercury in Sagittarius
The 8 of Wands corresponds to the first decan or face of Sagittarius. It carries the sub-signature of Mercury and was referred to in the “Book of Thoth” as the card of “Swiftness.”
This card appears when we are becoming restless and are trying to bring a project or pursuit to a swift end. It reminds us of the importance of thorough completion, before inviting in the new.
According to the “Book of Thoth” the “Swiftness” card also represents “the subtle refinement of the fiery energy and the phenomena of speech, light, and electricity.”
