Gorilla: Gentle Giants?

Gorillas are intelligent, highly social primates, living in tight-knit groups. Native to Central Africa, they are known for their problem-solving abilities, communication, and use of tools.
Anatomy:
Gorillas have broad chests and muscular arms. Their long arms are made for knuckle-walking, a unique form of locomotion. Their thick, black fur helps insulate them in cool, forested climates. The face of a gorilla is expressive, with a pronounced brow ridge and large nostrils. They have large hands and feet, capable of gripping and manipulating objects, including tools.Their strong jaw muscles and teeth are adapted to their herbivorous diet of leaves, stems, and fruit.
Evolution:
Gorillas share a common ancestor with humans, with both species diverging around 10 million years ago. Their evolution was influenced by the dense forest environments of Africa, which led to the development of their terrestrial build. Fossils show early ancestors with a similar knuckle-walking posture.
Interesting Facts
- They communicate through vocalizations, gestures, and facial expressions.
- Gorillas share about 98% of their DNA with humans.
- Despite their size and strength, gorillas are generally peaceful and non-aggressive.
