PROLOGUE

By doctrine we mean "Teaching" or "instruction." Christian doctrine can be defined as the fundamental truths of the Holy Scriptures ordered in a systematic way.

So Christian Doctrine is the revelation of God as a Truth as found in the Holy Scriptures.

It is important to know the Scriptures and their doctrine, as they protect us from doctrinal error or false teaching. The doctrines of the Bible expose false ideas regarding God and His ways. The Word itself instructs us and teaches us that we are to study it, some verses that tell us this are:

John 5:39 "Search the Scriptures; for it seems to you that in them you have eternal life; and they are the ones who bear witness of me;"

Hosea 4:6 "My people were destroyed, because they lacked knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will cast you out of the priesthood; and because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children."

2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished for every good work."

Joshua 1:8 "This book of the law shall never depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it; for then you will prosper your way, and all will be well with you."

In addition, God wants us to abound in the knowledge of His Word:

Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another in all wisdom, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs."

Which is an infallible rule of faith and justice, superior to conscience but not contrary to reason.

One of the ways in which false doctrine is born is when verses are taken out of context, and mixed with traditions, customs, religious practices (and in this way pervert the gospel, which gives rise to false doctrine. The word pervert is defined as corrupting, polluting, disturbing the order or state of a thing, in this case it perverts or corrupts, or the Gospel is contaminated by mixing it with other things that are not the truth, so they distance themselves from Jesus Himself who bore witness to Himself by declaring that He is the Truth (John 14:6 "Jesus said to him:  I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.").

the Bible is a single unit and does not contradict each other. It is the gospel about Jesus Christ, whose central theme is the redemption of man.

This study presents God's Word in order to show the truth by refuting doctrines or teachings contrary to this truth, (and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free, John 8:32). It is recommended to read John 8:31-38.

Example: The doctrine of reincarnation, Reincarnation is a central belief of this monotheistic religion, also part of those encompassed under the word "Hinduism". Sikhs believe that the soul has to transmigrate from one body to another as part of its evolution (Source: Pew Research Center (December 2012). "The Global Religious Landscape"). Thanks to the Holy Scriptures we are free from this error and we know the truth that when we die we can go to one destination with Christ or another without Him.
