THE FOUNDATION OF THE CHURCH IS NOT MAN, "CURSED IS THE MAN WHO TRUSTS IN MAN"

(Jeremiah 17:5: "Thus saith the Lord: Cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and puts flesh for his arm, and his heart departs from the Lord.")
If anyone preaches a different gospel, let him be anathema. (Gal.1:8-9: "But if we, or an angel from heaven, preach to you any gospel other than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, I repeat it even now: If anyone preaches to you any other gospel than that which you have received, let him be accursed.")
The foundation of the Church is Christ and the Rock of the Church is Christ.
Luke 20:17-18 "17 But he looked at them and said,
"What, then, is it that is written?"
"'The stone that the builders rejected
he has become the head of the corner."
18 "Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken; but on whom it falls, it will break it to pieces."
Comment: A rock can serve to affirm and sustain us, in the case of Jesus who is the Rock, we affirm and consolidate our faith in Him. But just as a rock can hold you up, so you can stumble. If faith is not placed in Jesus Christ, but resists it, then this stone becomes a stumbling block, falling on this stone is not something good or healthy spiritually, since it represents the life and the means of Justice that God has established, that is why God has placed it for us to lean and affirm in Him. Simply put, if you lean on Christ you will live, if you stumble in Him you will die.
Another portion of Scripture that we need to examine is 1 Peter 2:6:
"Thus says the Scripture: 'Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice and precious chief stone, and whoever trusts in it will never be disappointed.'"
1 Pedro 2:6 NVI
We should note two things:
- Peter himself recognizes that the Stone is Jesus
- Scripture shows that the stone is Jesus and that it is he who we must trust, since Jesus is the stone we can say "whoever trusts in Jesus (stone) will never be disappointed" and not "whoever trusts in Peter will never be disappointed" (therefore that doctrine that Peter is the stone is wrong and totally against the Holy Scriptures).
