THE PHENOMENON: BECOMING ONE.

Who is a phenomenon? I asked my students. The word phenomenon is familiar word, which i expected my students would know. I waited in anticipation of the answer but got none. Feeling disappointed, I asked the students individually. Pointing at a little white head guy, i called out “John any idea”. John had an idea. I know footballers are called phenomenon, John replied. Just that? I asked again. John waved his head in negative affirmation. John was familiar with the word being used to qualify exceptional footballers but not more.

John’s like many persons who use the word phenomenon but have no idea the meaning. They know they can qualify people with qualities too good to be true as phenomenon. They wonder at the qualities of these persons and daydream about replicating the acts of these persons but they never imagine they could be the ones others should be replicating.

What’s your definition of a phenomenon? Describing who a phenomenon is marked with extreme ambiguity especially as it could be used to refer to many situations. However, the phenomenal state is one everyone wants to be. We do not want to be in the crowd. We want to be considered as special, different and in our own class. We want to be the cynosure of eyes attracting all the attention. Who wouldn’t like to be in that giant stage of life and being the one whose name everyone’s yelling? Yes something in you is that crave for exceptional glory.

Finding the answer to the question at the first paragraph has taken me into a much deeper thought. Does being a phenomenon mean having an extraordinary capability? It’s much more than that. It’s an evolution of some sort from the plain of the normal to an eccentric plain, being caught up in an aura that glorifies you from that simple being you had always being to that godlike state. It’s a mystical state, uncommon, that the ordinary man will yearn to attain but only a few do.

The proof of our phenomenal attributes are the actions that spring forth from our wellspring of mystery, actions that are only ours, irreplaceable and unrepeatable, actions that bear our name all over it. We become the standard for which any measurement of any sort is referred.

A phenomenon is a god, adored and unquestioned. His acts are standards, his words are ideals. He is never faulted, seeming to know all. The funny truth is he never tries so hard to reach this state. It comes naturally from a deep well reservoir and he releases it string by string each one baffling that you’d wonder how he manages to string in a succinct way acts that thrill.

Why can’t that phenomenon be you? What’s the difference between the guys who’s topping the charts and you. Nothing’s different. You have the same make up and ability as those other guys but they are doing something you aren’t doing. They are applying their attribute and coining them to suite their phenomenal ambitions.

If you know what your other competitors are doing and getting right, would you do it? Well, you may scream at how different you are as compared to the other person but you know within you that you are often envious of the guy who’s picking all the awards. You follow the crowd of admirers who rain phenomenal praises on the guy but you feel unfulfilled that you never made it to the list to challenge the top guy.

Thank God you’ve finally hit the right piece. The thoughts in this book are thought provoking, practical, and illustrative. Becoming the phenomenon you want to be is not far-fetched. You can and will if you are determined enough to recognize your selling point and drive towards it.

There is a phenomenon in you that have to see limelight. What are you waiting for? Munch these words, it’s meant to bring out the phenomenon in you. Release the phenomenon in you.
