Upon graduation it didn’t take a Yale education for Susan to realize that Finn could never provide the type of financial support required. Rather than be a tragedy out of “Children of Paradise,” she married Walter Lowery, a lifetime Stamford resident, moneyed and properous. He married her as an intending cover for his being gay. She knew and that deal was fine for her as it gave her access to loads of money. Walt was rich and high income, having inherited familiar largesse as well as becoming the CEO of a Connecticut baby bell. And all in all, Walt was tolerable, quiet, and when prone to speak say things like; “The show must go on.”
So Susie was well paid to put on the show, and spend most of her time in the house at the end of the road Walt insisted upon, in the Stamford Susie despised. The structure virtually mirrored that of another CEO at the end of the same road on a couple of precious acres. Walt had grown up in the less elite part of Stamford, and was somehow unable to fully detach from it. Susie showed him Westport to no avail.
She tolerated it, but lived for the trips she could take with her true love, Finn.
