like a closing argument. The draw bridge, still theatrically lowered, offers no resistance; just a gesture of inevitability. Finn pauses at the threshold, muttering, "We're not late, we're just early for something else." Susie nods, already rehearsing her entrance like a duchess of deferral.
The Castle Interior greets them with curated silence. Tapestries hang like annotated dreams, but neither of them reads the captions, not needing to. They pass through the vestibule, where a suit of armor stands in permanent audition. Susie salutes it. Finn whispers, "He didn't get the part."
The Great Hall is absurdly vast, a cathedral of breakfast. Long tables stretch like timelines no one asked for. The chandeliers above flicker with theatrical intent. At the far end, a buffet awaits; silver platters, folded napkins, and a bowl of fruit that looks too symmetrical to be edible.
They don't sit where they're supposed to. Instead, they choose a side table beneath a portrait of a forgotten baron whose eyes seem to follow ritual misbehavior. Susie pours coffee with the solemnity of a coronation. Finn peels a boiled egg like he's revealing a secret.
Their conversation is hushed but mythic:
