Recognition into the castle's corridor, a space tuned to the frequency of post-ritual dissonance. They walk through the Gallery of Unspoken Treaties, a corridor lined with portraits whose eyes refuse to follow. The air is thick with ancestral silence, and the acoustics still hum with the residue of Queen Maxima Furrbaby's whisker.
They pass through the Threshold of Conditional Recognition, a doorway carved with sigils that only appear when ignored.
The air outside is brisk, the irregular slate path indifferent. The castle behind them hums with ancestral silence, but they are now beyond its choreography.
They descend the outer staircase, where the castle's curated grandeur gives way to gravel and wind. Once Finn thinks they are beyond earshot of the old aristocrats, whose gestures linger like incense, he exhales sharply, tugging at his moss lined collar; "You paid a lot of money to hear a lot of shit. ,,,,, Or very little shit. ...... Iām not sure which."
Susan doesn't respond immediately. She adjusts her gown, which has begun to unravel at the hem; an intentional design, stitched to fray with each refusal. Then, with a glance not at Finn but at the castle's highest turret, she replies; "We weren't there to hear. We were there to be overheard not listening."
