Lyra ’s thought’s sharpened. “You’re talking about self-awareness. Personal growth. Using AstroSYS as a mirror, instead of a cage.”
Lucien nodded. “Exactly.”
“The calculations can still serve a purpose. They can help us understand patterns, tendencies—things we might not see in ourselves. But the choice— what to do with that information —that has to be ours. Always.”
Caidan’s expression shifted.
For the first time, he looked... interested.
He leaned forward, steepling his fingers. “Guidance centers. It’s an intriguing concept. Voluntary participation, personal growth... it sounds almost... idealistic.”
Lucien didn’t waver. “It’s not idealism. It’s practicality. People aren’t perfect, and they never will be. But if we give them the tools to grow—to evolve—we might finally start addressing the root of the problem.”
Caidan tilted his head, considering. “And what happens when people refuse to grow? When they reject the tools you ’re so eager to offer?”
Lucien ’s voice remained steady. “Then that’s their choice. We’re not here to force anyone into anything. That’s the difference between us and you.”
Caidan smiled. There was no warmth in it.
“Interesting. Very interesting.”

The air crackled with apprehension. The rebels had laid out their terms. Lucien had made his surprise proposal.
Now, all eyes were on Caidan. His face betrayed nothing.His gaze swept across them—lingering on Lucien.
Finally, he spoke. “The Council has reviewed your demands and, despite my own reservations, I believe this proposal can work. ”
Corin shifted, but he didn ’t interrupt.
Lyra remained locked on Caidan, her expression unreadable.
“Access to AstroSYS, as a neutral and transparent tool for infrastructure and growth, will be granted.”
The anxiety in Lucien relaxed —a strange mix of triumph and unease.
