STARLIGHT UNBOUND
out in the crowd, growing louder as the Speaker’s words settled over them.

Lucien remained silent. Around him, the crowd's faces brimmed with awe and pride, their expressions almost worshipful. Many reached for their enameled pins, tracing the smooth edges as if reaffirming their faith in the system. Sighing, he tilted his head to the sky.
The planets hung in perfect alignment—beacons of light in the dark. Yet the sight brought him no comfort.
The holograms shifted again, zooming outward to reveal the vast night sky. Above the park, the projection towers adjusted, reframing their visuals to create an expansive sweep of the cosmos. Stars shimmered against the endless black, their distant glow wrapping around the planets now aligned in deliberate precision.
Then, one by one, the holographic images faded, and the real night sky took over. A hush fell as the city ’s artificial lights dimmed, then extinguished completely, plunging the park into pure darkness. Suspended above the horizon, the planets stretched across the sky. Sentinels ever watching.
Venus burned the brightest, its silvery light piercing through the void. Mars hovered beside it, a faint crimson glow against the black. Jupiter sat steady and golden, radiating a quiet majesty, while Saturn commanded on the outskirts, its pale light a whisper of distant rings. Together, they formed a celestial pattern so perfect it felt deliberate —almost staged.
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd. The stars blinked in startling clarity, sharper and more vivid than most had ever seen.
"Tonight, the heavens remind us of the harmony we have built together," the Speaker's voice carried, reverent and unwavering. "This planetary alignment—rare, perfect—reflects the alignment of our world. As above, so below."
Murmurs stirred among the crowd. Fingers lifted to point at the sky, their owners marveling at the cosmic choreography. The planets, delicately arranged in a neat celestial row, seemed too perfect—too synchronized—as though the universe itself had conspired to bless AstroSYS ’s dominion.
Lucien ’s surveyed the sea of faces. A young couple stood hand in hand, their matching enameled pins catching the starlight as they smiled up at the sky. A child perched on her father ’s shoulders, eyes wide with wonder, pointing in excitement.
