The safehouse buzzed with frantic energy.
Harun leaned over the monitor, his voice rising with a mix of disbelief and excitement. “Am I seeing things, or is half the city out there?”
Jaris stood behind him, his usual calm fractured by the clenching of his jaw. He leaned in, scanning the live drone feed streaming from the central district.
The streets were alive.
Thousands had poured into the open, filling plazas, intersections, entire blocks.
Handmade signs bobbed above the crowd, scrawled with the rebellion ’s words.
“Free Will Is Our Right.”
“Your Life Is More Than A Chart.”
“The System Is A Cage. Break It.”
A roar of voices rose through the streets—defiant, unified.
The Stewards were losing control. Their tight formations buckled as they struggled to contain the crowds. Some pushed forward, barking orders that were ignored. Others hesitated, their grips unsteady on their weapons.
“This—” Jaris’s eyes locked on the screen. “This wasn’t supposed to happen yet. Not like this. ”
Harun let out a sharp laugh, tapping the table. “Well, it’s happening.” He gestured at the unstoppable surge on the monitor. “They’re not just talking anymore. They’re demanding change. This isn’t a ripple. It’s a goddamn tidal wave.”
