He hesitated as he considered her words. She ’s right. Going back is a risk I can ’t afford. He was too tired to argue, letting out a slow breath. “I could use the rest. ”
Harun let out a laugh, stepping forward. “Well, don’t get your hopes up. The beds here aren ’t exactly 'Bureau standard'.”
Lucien managed a smile.
“There’s a cot in the back room. Try not let the damp air get to you – it likes to creep into your bones. ”
Corin, scoffed. “Welcome to the rebellion. Luxury isn’t part of the package. ”
Lyra ignored him. “Get some sleep Lucien. Tomorrow’s going to be a long day.”
He nodded again, his body already leaning toward the back room as fatigue settled over him. “Thanks.” As he turned to leave, he glanced at the starburst mural on the wall, its jagged edges catching the light of the projector.
