Adalalcas, the northern continent controlled by the imperium (see also, Imperium)

Aidari, chosen from among the living by viral mages to serve and study in the Necropolis. Those chosen must have some ability to touch spectralic magic, and they can be weak or strong

Aidaril Islands, group of islands in the middle of the north Adalcis Ocean

Angels, considered divine by humans, they are spirit guardians of the Spectrum. Legend and the White Daemoni suggest they once took fleshly bodies and walked among humans, and were known as Angelborn

Black Palace, palace in the capital, Icarthya, and home to the Imperial Family

Breathers, a name used by virals to refer to anyone alive

Clot, a group of virals

Conclave, consisting of the nine original families, which ruled pre-imperium, it is a political arena and a check on the imperator’s power

Conclavist, a member of the imperial conclave

Dalba, full bodied robe worn by undead high mages out of respect for the sensibilities of the living

Darken, an imperial bodyguard assigned to each member of the Imperial Family. The identity of a Darken is known only to the imperator and the one protected

Exemplars, sometimes called red cloaks, these are an obscure company of soldiers within the imperial legions, and yet apart. Only recently formed, little is known about them

Grim, the, evil character of legend, and the White Daemoni, who occupies Hell’s Teeth

Icarthian, both official nationality and language of the imperium

Icarthya, capital city of the imperium located on the north-eastern coast of Adalalcas

Imperator/imperatrix, ruler of the imperium

Imperial Quarter, (Icarthya City) churches, parks, libraries, and the Black Palace

Imperium, an empire that encompasses the entire northern continent

Yalta, the largest of the Aidaril Islands

Necropolis, also referred to as the Necrop or the school by locals, it is a fortress hidden on the island of Yalta, dedicated to the magical education of both the undead and their Aidari. It is said to have been partly built of bones of the undead.

Necros Guardians, soldiers of the Necropolis, these are living men and women dedicated to the protection of the undead mages of the Necropolis

Plagues, a series of devastating outbreaks, which have spread throughout the known world for centuries (see also, Virals)

Plebeians, (Plebs) anyone who isn’t of the elite class

Pleth Quarter, (Icarthya City) wealthy merchants, ship building and other industries, with a section of the city port.

Replica, refers to magical clones. Only one viral is known to have had this ability. This is a darker form of viralic power, and has been responsible for the deaths of thousands of replicas (see also, Necropolis)

Soul Shard, an angelic weapon forged in the mortal realm. Imbued with a portion of an angel’s soul, which gives it great power, but weakens the giver. To give an entire soul to a shard is taboo, as is the use of wights in this manner (see also, Angels)

Spectral, Spectralic, considered the opposite to viralic magic, and a power linked to the angels, it is a form of magic accessible to the living. For centuries there have been no known spectral mages, or spectrals as they are also known. There have only been Aidari with weak ability (see also, Aidari)

Spectrum of Existence, or simply the Spectrum, is everything in existence both seen and unseen, flesh spirit and all other forms of reality. Believed to contain hundreds of millions of other worlds, many mirrors of each other

Standard Bearer, a prestigious position, regarded by most as symbolic, close to the Imperator, the Standard Bearer was never to leave his master’s side

Sydarag, a lizard-like creature that runs on two legs with a long neck and snaking tail. Used by the imperial legions as mounts because of their great endurance

Torments, servants of the Grim, believed by most to be nothing more than myth. There are said to be only ten

Vasara, fishing village on the island of Yalta

Viralic, name given to magical power used by virals (see also Talent)

Virals, often called Plagueborn, deaders or undeaders, virals are born dead and always after a plague outbreak. As they grow older, their bodies decompose faster. Legend suggests there was once several types. They serve the imperium

White Daemoni, ancient holy text of the Imperial Church and source of all holy doctrine. This ancient book is never seen, and is said to be hidden away by the Paladins of the Church

Wights, the angel dead, fallen in battle against the darkness of Tartaros. Sometimes, when wounded and dying, they willingly gave themselves up to soul shards, to continue the fight. However, some are taken by the Darkness, and used by the very enemy they once fought against; one form such take are wights.
