Chapter 3
I And Xeyamia Head Home
On the same Monday morning, after school had finished, as I was leaving the school to head home, I spotted my friend who lived nearby.
I walked over to her and asked if she was also going home.
Despite her being with a group of friends, I called out to her.
“Hi Xeyamia!” I greeted her and asked how she was doing.
“Hey, Werley! I'm fine, and you?” Xeyamia replied.
One of her friends then asked, “Who is he?”
“Girls, let me introduce you to Werley,” Xeyamia said.
“He is my neighbor too, as we live close to each other.” She added.
I greeted Xeyamia's friends, saying, “Hi guys! You can call me Werley, and I am her neighbor as well.”
“Hi, Werley!”
“You're not that ugly after all,” another of Xeyamia's friends responded.
At that moment, Xeyamia and the others burst into laughter.
“Nice to meet you all!” I said to Xeyamia's friends.
“Thank you very much! We're also glad to meet you too!” They replied. “Okay, fine.” I spoke. “Xeyamia, are you heading home now?” I asked her.
“Actually, I was planning to go home after talking with my friends here,” Xeyamia answered.
“Why do you ask?”
“Are you going home now?” She asked me. “Yes, I was on my way home when I saw you, so I wanted to know if you would like to join me,” I responded.
“Okay!”
“That's very kind of you.”
“Just give me a moment, and I'll meet you outside,” Xeyamia said while she and her friends were in the hallway. “Alright, that works for me.”
“I'll wait for you outside,” I replied. “Thank you!” Xeyamia said.
I then went outside to the schoolyard to wait for Xeyamia to finish her conversation with her friends so we could head home together, as we lived in the same area, close to each other.
Xeyamia is a friend of mine who lives near my house and attends the same College as I did.
We are in the same class and share the same age.
However, despite our friendship, Xeyamia was unaware that I had begun to plan a rocket launch to Space—a dream that would later astonish her.
After waiting a few minutes in the yard while Xeyamia talked with her friends, she finally approached me, and we boarded the bus home.
“Hi Werley! Thank you for your patience!” Xeyamia said.
“Hi Xeyamia! You are welcome!” I replied. “So, are you heading home now?” I asked as we strolled along.
“Oh yes, absolutely!” She answered. “Can we go now?” Xeyamia asked me. “Yes, I believe we should take the bus home now,” I responded.
Consequently, Xeyamia and I took the bus and returned home.
When Xeyamia and I reached our home, the bus let us off at the bus stop sign. “Thank you very much!” We expressed it to the bus driver.
“You are welcome! Goodbye!” The bus driver replied.
After that, Xeyamia and I continued walking for a few more minutes until we stood in front of our house. During our walk, we engaged in conversation.
“So, how was class for you?” Xeyamia asked as we made our way home. “Class was good and yours?” I replied. “It was good.”
“Thank you.” She spoke.
“This morning, I was excited to present my project to one of my teachers and my classmates.” I told her. “Really?” She asked. “What project? Can you share more?” She continued.
“Don't you ever wonder what's beyond that blue Sky you see?” I posed to her. “Yes, many times,” she answered. “Why?” She asked.
“Well, my project involves building a rocket to travel to Space,” I explained.
“Oh my God! Are you serious?” She exclaimed.
“Oh, I am very serious!” I affirmed. “This is so cool! But what makes you think you can fly to Space in a rocket?” She laughed while asking.
“I don't know if I will succeed or not, but I will try,” I told her. “Wow! You really have the courage to do that, don't you?”
“You have the ball!” She responded. “What if we've been deceived in our entire lives?”
“What if I will be the first to reveal the truth?” I suggested it. “You need to be cautious; there are powerful people who don't take kindly to the truth being exposed!” She warned me. “I would die like Jesus-Christ and other Heroes then,” I replied.
“Good Heavens!”
“I didn't know you were a Christian.” She responded.
“I don't need to be a Christian to know about Jesus. Isn't Jesus a very well-known figure?” I asked her.
“But you're not famous,” she pointed out. “What if I become famous like Jesus?” I wondered aloud.
“You don't have to be like him; you should be your own person!” She advised me. “Since I learned about Jesus, perhaps he was indeed a real person who died for our sins,” she reflected.
“Are you someone who seeks to please others?” I asked her. “Not really! Why do you ask?” She replied. “The story of Jesus is quite sad, you know.”
“There are many sad stories out there,” I remarked.
“You are completely correct!”
“However, you haven't explained to me your reasons for wanting to travel to Space,” she reminded me.
“To discover what lies beyond Space, naturally!” I replied.
“Oh my God! Please take me along with you,” she exclaimed, smiling.
After a brief walk, we finally reached our home.
I was the one who escorted her to her house before heading to mine. “I’m finally home now!” She spoke. “Thank you for walking with me.” She told me.
“It was no trouble at all,” I replied. “In fact, it’s a pleasure to accompany you.”
“I hope you have a wonderful day,” she added.
“Please say hello to your mother and father for me.” She also told me. I responded, “Actually, my parents are away; they’re visiting another City for a few days.”
“Oh! I didn’t know that!” She replied. “It’s alright.” I assured her. “It’s nothing serious; you’ll see them when they come back.” I told her. “Have a great day!” She wished for me. “You are too! I hope your day is wonderful as well!” I responded. “Thank you!” I told me. “I really appreciate it! And you’re welcome!” She said as she entered her house.
Once she closed the door, I could hear her speaking to her parents. “Oh, Hun? You’re back!” Both of her parents greeted her.
“Hi, Mom!”
“Hi, Dad!” She replied. “Yes, I’m back!” She told them. “How was school, Hun?” They asked her. “School was fantastic! Thank you!” She responded and hugged them. “Thank you very much!” She added it to her parents.
“I’m so happy to see you both; I’m going to take a shower and then head to my room.”
“I’ll see you in a few minutes,” she told them.
“Alright, Hun! Take your time!” Her mother responded.
After overhearing that brief exchange she had with her parents while I stood outside, I made my way home.
“What a fortunate young woman!” I thought.
“At least her parents are still alive like mine like they used to,” I reflected as I walked home.
Since her house was nearby, I quickly reached mine and stepped inside. “I'm home!”
“At last, I am home!” I exclaimed loudly as I walked in.
