General Custer taught them the importance of courage,
leadership, and respect for the land, as he was on the verge of
entering Little Bighorn. Stevie and Timmy felt generally
inspired by his teachings with an exception or two, and knew
that they would carry these lessons with them always.
Stevie knew from his reading what would happen at Little
Bighorn. He also knew that Custer was a stubborn man who had
already been warned by his mercenary native scouts that there
were a lot more Indians than he knew.
Stevie thought he should try to give some sort of warning which
would not be angrily ignored, and said: “This may not be the

As the sun began to set, casting a warm golden glow over the
valley, General Custer bid Stevie and Timmy farewell. "Thank you
for joining us on this journey," he said with a smile. "Remember
the lessons you have learned and carry them with you always."
