40 AN ULTRA VIOLENT FAIRY TALE
“You think this is about her?” Nelly asked Kickswitch not long after Sandy got back.
“I wish I knew.”
There were illegal things abound in Neon City, but the port cities were ten times worse and hardly ever got noticed by The Order. But fairy wings were a powerful magic, something The Order would covet, and believed the fairy was heading for NC. Glitterbelle would be safe with them, but Kickswitch understood she didn’t breakout of prison for shits and giggles as Lenny might say.
She wondered what would happen once the fairy woke up as Eliza rolled them after dinner joints while they sat by the bon fire. Was she going to Neon City, and if so why. Kickswitch didn’t believe the fairy would tell her, a natural, anything and wished her friend Galadriel was here, she was a preternatural creature as well and might have had better luck talking to Glitterbelle. But Kickswitch hadn’t seen the witch in a long while now and wondered if The Order had gotten her.
Kickswitch had a feeling the city was her destination, and the final one at that if The Order was there.
Maybe she could convince Glitterbelle to stay, at least until there were no more troops in Neon City.
Unless she was betrayed by someone, and if that were the case Kickswitch knew nothing would stop the fairy.
“Thank you for the food and wine.” said Glitterbelle waking Kickswitch out of her thoughts.
“You’re leaving?”
She didn’t answer, she walked while checking the cylinder of her revolver and adjusting the strap of the shot gun on her shoulder. Kickswitch watched Glitterbelle march off into the night, while the others looked at her. Before another second passed Kickswitch ran after her, she got a good distance away before finally catching up to her.
“Wait, where are you headed?”
“Crow’s Nest, a speakeasy in Neon City.” she said quickening her pace but Kickswitch kept up with her.
“Wait,” she said again as she stood in front of her.
Glitterbelle stopped but her patience was thin as her thoughts ran to Luke.
