When he continues, the trail narrows briefly, passing between two leaning birches whose white bark glows faintly in the muted light. Snowflakes begin to fall; lazy, drifting shapes that seem unsure whether they intend to accumulate or simply decorate the air for a moment.

The person doesn’t look up. He doesn’t need to. The forest announces the change in its own quiet language; the softening of sound, the way the air thickens, the faint tick of flakes landing on fabric.

He walks on, a solitary figure moving through a winter landscape that feels both vast and intimate, as if the trail itself remembers every footstep it has ever held and welcomes this one just the same.

He moves along the Bog Meadow Brook Trail as if the morning has been hollowed out just for him. Winter has simplified everything; the sky a pale wash of silver, the wetlands muted into soft grays and browns, the snow thin enough to show the ghost of the old railbed beneath.

There’s a stillness here that feels intentional, almost curated. Not ominous, just aware.
