HOW BIG, HOW QUICK, HOW FAR

Armageddon names a place in Israel. It also names the last battle of this age which will occur there. The forces of this world under antichrist, aided by four specific angels bent on destruction will marshal an army of 200 million to finally eliminate every Jewish person from the earth. The Battle will be engaged in the huge Valley of Jezreel. This is the largest fighting force ever assembled, and it will be in one of the world’s oldest battlefields.

The assault will be interrupted fatally by the glorious return of Jesus. He will appear in His natural glory of light, greater than that produced by a million hydrogen bombs exploding simultaneously. The largest army ever assembled will be destroyed quickly by that brightness. 2 Thess. 2:8. The prophet Zachariah 14:12 foretells it as instant disintegration of the flesh while they are yet standing on their feet. So vast is this wasted battlefield that it will take seven months to bury human remains and dispose of their implements of war. Eze. 39.

The instant disintegration of flesh will allow most all of the blood to hit the ground. The Bible indicates the mass it will create is that the blood will run to the horse’s bridle for the space of 1600 furlongs. Rev. 14:20. It is a real challenge to the bible student to try to wrap his mind around the scene as it is described. There has never been such devastation, and it is all brought on by sin. Men want to be in control of their own destiny apart from their Creator, and this is a part of the result of their determined rejection of the great God who made them.

The time of Great Tribulation and of the described carnage of Armageddon is very near. The world is coming together in the final ecumenical movement that will propel antichrist to power. This will give immediate rise to the destruction of any witness of God; hence, Israel, who is fiercely hated by the descendants of Ishmael, and other nations as well. But God has predestined a future for Israel. The nation will survive.

So, it doesn’t matter how big. God can make changes instantly, and He will. How far will the carnage and blood cover the landscape? It is almost unimaginable. The good news is that while it is near, it is still in the future. It need not be in your future, and will not be if you are in Christ.
