HE LOVES ME, THIS I KNOW!

How shall the measures of true love be extolled? It goes beyond the highest hills, and it is deeper than the deepest sea. Now here is something to think about!

Perhaps the greatest of human psychological needs is to be loved. From earliest days love or the lack of it will shape life for its duration on earth. Possibly the latest evidence of this is seen in unloved infants of other nations. Babies were warehoused with only the basic life sustaining necessities supplied, but little to no holding, cuddling, kind words or such like. Many American couples flocked to these foreign institutions to adopt a much wanted child, but by the time they got them, the damage was done. In spite of love and kindness shown to them later, most spent many, many hours in the office of a psychiatrist dealing with psychological emptiness that will trouble so many for a lifetime. Such is the power of love properly applied in a timely manner or withheld in crucial times.

It is sad that much of earth’s population goes through life deprived of the essence of true love. I speak of God for as John said, “God is love!” In the process of time, those who know the Lord will find that faith will dissipate as it becomes sight; hope will dissipate as it becomes reality, but love will never end because the essence of true love is indeed God! His love letter, the greatest ever written, is penned in John 3:16, and is to be understood as Paul described it in Romans 5:8, “But commendeth his love toward us in that while were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Thus, those who receive Him in repentance from sin and faith in His sacrifice as their personal Savior will know His ever increasing love and bliss in the eternal state.

Disciples of Jesus will do well to spend much time in study and meditation to increase their appreciation of His love for each of them. It is said that a little girl wanting to be more excited and appreciative of her relationship with God was given to saying repeatedly, “I love Jesus!” Thinking her exercise a failure, she consulted her pastor about the matter. She was told that she was saying it wrong. She should rather say, “Jesus loves me!” Go ahead, say it! Jesus loves me! Jesus loves me! Oh, hallelujah, what a Savior!

FOR THOUGHT: Born from above disciples of Jesus have every possible key to happiness. They are children of the Creator, King, Redeemer of the universe. Do you know Jesus on a personal, prayer basis? If so, rejoice! You will inherit heaven and earth in Christ!
