PSALM 90:7-12: A PRAYER OF MOSES (CONT’D)
“7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled. 8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. 9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. 10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. 11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. 12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Verse 7: “Consumed” is in Hebrew, “Kalah,” meaning brought to an end, finished, completed.” “Wrath” is “Chemah,” meaning “Hot displeasure.”
“Troubled” is, “Bahal,” meaning “Disturbed so as to be hasty.” Verse 8: “Iniquities” is “Avon,” Perversity, depravity.” “Secret” is “Alam.” meaning concealed or hidden.
Verse 10: “Strength” is “Geburah,” meaning “Might, power. “Labor” is “Misery, grief.”
Verse11: “Fear,” is “Yir’ah” meaning “An awesome and terrifying thing.” Wrath” is “Ebrah” meaning “an overflowing, rage or fury.” Verse 12: “Teach,” is “Yadah” “Cause us to know.” “Number,” is “Manah”
“To number as to prepare.” “Apply,” is “Bow,” meaning to come in, enter.
EXPANDED TRANSLATION
7For we are concluded in life by thine anger [against sin in us], and by thy wrath [hot displeasure] [against the same] are we troubled [motivated to move with haste]. 8Thou hast set our iniquities [perverseness, depravity] before thee, our secret [concealed] sins in the light of thy countenance. 9For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. 10The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength [might or power] they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor [ misery, grief] for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. 11Who knoweth the power of thine anger: even according to thy fear [awesome and terrifying], so is thy wrath [overflowing rage]. 12So teach us [cause us to know] to prepare our days that we may apply [direct] our hearts unto wisdom.,”
