A FEW FINAL WORDS

Islam, like many other religions and belief systems, tries to convert non-believers. All religious systems seeking converts selectively choose high sounding words to focus on ideals only a fool would question if all the words were valid and held true in reality.

Some years back, I met a Muslim in the Caribbean as I was walking down a street. He stopped me and asked if I knew anything about Islam. He was proselytizing. He immediately offered me a free twenty-two page pamphlet. It was filled with high sounding words about what "Islam is"-– ideally--and along with select quotes from the Qur'an in support of the high-sounding sentiments and ideals.

He made a request. If you take this book, promise me you will not destroy it or throw it away. I told him I would not do either of those things.

The following paragraph was the summary wrap-up from the pamphlet aimed at gaining converts. As noted, I received the pamphlet as an invitation to bow to Islam. While I respect Islam's ideals, I nonetheless abhor the realities that are in the news daily surrounding Islam, Muslims and non-Muslims. The on-going events raise too many questions about the continuing death, destruction, dislocations, dismay and grief Muslims are suffering at the hands of other believers. This tragic reality does not even take into account the many contradictions and hidden unpleasant aspects of Islam since its beginning in the seventh century. [Taken from]

ISLAM IS... AN INTRODUCTION TO ISLAM & ITS PRINCIPLES

"It is imperative to understand jihad. Jihad is a struggle for the cause of God alone and cannot violate Islamic principles. Terrorism is clearly rejected by Islam and can never be called jihad. God states that there is no compulsion in religion. Human rights and freedom of choice are sacred in Islam. Women play an important role. Women are equal to and required to be honored by men. God...has perfected Islam as a religion for all humanity.”
