“The Naqshbandiyah Order chief [Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri] allegedly played an important role in ISIS’s capture of Mosul in June 2014, however his current relations with ISIS have soured.... just days before...ISIS executions...he slammed ISIS and called for a return to Arab nationalism, [saying] 'The bitterest enemies of the nation are the followers of takfiri ideas because they do not recognize the Arab nation'... The Baathist leader welcomed the Saudi-led Decisive Storm campaign against the Houthis in Yemen, hailing it as 'a strong return for Arab nationalism,' and attacked Iran, calling for the expulsion of 'the Safavid Persians from Iraq.'”
