Presenting Themselves as Familiar with Modern Science
Sometimes, after learning about a topic in modern science or technology—for example, something related to computers—religious clerics use it as an example and explain it briefly. In this way, they present themselves as familiar with modern scientific knowledge.
They then compare a religious idea with this scientific or technological example and conclude that the religious idea is therefore perfectly reasonable, understandable, and scientific. From there, they may give the impression that their religion is full of similarly sound and scientifically valid ideas.
But a religious idea does not become scientific simply because it can be compared with something scientific.
