Methods for Strengthening People’s Faith in Their Beliefs
Everything discussed up to this point has concerned fallacies that we may use—as religious clerics or believers—against ourselves and others in order to prove that our religious beliefs are true and that our religion or sect is the one true religion or sect remaining in the world today.
But there are also fallacies and psychological methods that are not really intended to prove that a religion is true.
Instead, they are used to guide believers toward feeling more certain that their beliefs are correct, to strengthen their emotional confidence in their religion, and also to strengthen their confidence in the religious clerics of that religion.
Even the clerics themselves may not regard these methods as strong arguments or actual proofs.
But because they can still involve misleading reasoning, we will discuss them here.
